Assistant Toddler Teacher

Overview: The principle duties of the Assistant Teacher include collaborating with the Lead Teacher to develop weekly curricular plans; cooperating with home base team to implement and evaluate classroom activities; overseeing the physical well-being of the children; maintenance of the classroom, classroom materials and equipment; and contributing to the overall operation of the Early Childhood Program.
General Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Head Teacher to provide a nurturing environment in which all children feel welcomed and secure.
- Meet NAEYC and Keystone STARS* standards.
- Adhere to the standards outlined in the JCC Early Childhood Program Handbook for: Following DHS regulations, Communicating with families, Care of facility and equipment, Record keeping, Curriculum, Health and safety procedures, Teamwork
- Attend regular meetings for your teaching team, the Early Childhood Program, and the JCC.
- Other duties as needed or assigned.
*Time used to support the JCC in meeting Keystone STARS quality standards is funded by Keystone STARS. If the JCC should lose this funding, then time used in meeting these standards would be used to complete other assigned duties as listed in this description, or hours would be reduced directly proportionate to time used to meet these standards as a floater.
Performance Expectations:
- Understand/possess an openness to Jewish religion and traditions
- Attend all meetings and events that support the department’s main objectives and responsibilities
- Positively and actively promote the JCC’s mission, membership, programs, events, and charitable purpose to JCC members and the general public
- Be familiar with the mission, vision statements, and Core Values of the JCC. Model the Core Values while working and communicating with members and staff
Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma, plus 15 credits in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Human Resources, or an equivalent field and one year experience working with children; or
- High school equivalent plus 30 credits in the above fields; or
- High School equivalent plus two years experience working with young children.
