The Forward is seeking a Yiddish speaker to help serve more people interested in watching, hearing and reading about the language and its importance in Jewish cultural life. Part-time role focused on producing short videos and writing for lovers of Yiddish; monitor social media for conversations; track cultural updates (music, theater, film, literature); engage the Yiddish community to generate ideas/stories. Comfortable writing personal essays in Yiddish/English, interviewing on camera, reporting on cultural events; solid grasp of style/grammar in both languages; knowledge of Yiddish literature, songs and traditions helpful.Pays $25/hour; News Guild role reporting to the Yiddish editor. Newsroom is in NYC with hybrid policy; open to remote with visits as needed. Typical day: post to Forverts social accounts and Reddit; produce short videos for YouTube, Instagram, TikTok; support Yiddish editorial work (news briefs, Word of the Day, cooking/food content) and help shepherd engaging coverage.
