The Forward seeks beginning journalists passionate about digital and audience — and the Jewish world — for paid internships reporting and writing news items, supported by the Sy Syms Endowment for Journalistic Excellence. Up to 29 hours/week at $15/hour; initial term 10 weeks with potential extension up to a year; rolling applications. Fast-paced, reader-facing role producing frequent stories across politics, culture, and more. Responsibilities: report and write across sections (including breaking news); scour the Jewish internet; support colleagues; source photos/art; grow readership via social platforms; use audience tools and analyze traffic to optimize story selection and framing. Ideal candidates balance interests from Israel to Hollywood and politics to antisemitism, apply a sophisticated Jewish lens, work well under pressure and in teams, and are eager to learn.
