The Forward seeks one or more beginning journalists passionate about digital and audience — and the Jewish world — for paid internships reporting and writing news items, supported by the Sy Syms Endowment for Journalistic Excellence. Interns work up to 29 hours/week at $17/hour. Initial term is 10 weeks; may be extended up to a year. Rolling applications.Responsibilities: Report and write across sections (including breaking news on politics, culture, and more); scour the Jewish internet for news and ideas; support colleagues reporting and writing; quickly source appropriate photos/art; use social and other platforms to develop readership; use audience tools and analyze traffic to optimize story selection/framing.Ideal candidates: Strong story instincts/editorial judgment; clear, quick writing; grasp of style and grammar; collaboration skills; interest in Israel/Hollywood, politics and antisemitism; ability to apply a sophisticated or sassy Jewish lens; sufficient Jewish background or strong curiosity/commitment; work well under pressure; eager to grow and responsive to feedback.To apply: Send resume, five clips, a one-pager on why you want the gig, and contact info for at least two references to jobs@forward.com (subject: Digital reporting and writing internship).
