The Forward is seeking beginning journalists passionate about digital/audience and the Jewish world for paid internships reporting and writing news items. Supported by the Sy Syms Endowment for Journalistic Excellence. Interns work up to 29 hours/week at $17/hour. Initial term 10 weeks; may be extended up to a year; rolling applications.Role: fast-paced, reader-facing—report, write and publish frequently. Desired: experience at campus/other publications; strong internet/social navigation; strong story instincts and judgment; speed and clarity with solid style/grammar; ability to juggle and collaborate. Responsibilities: report/write across sections including breaking news; scour the Jewish internet; support colleagues; quickly source photos/art; build readership via social and other platforms; use audience tools and analyze traffic to optimize story selection and framing. Ideal candidates are equally interested in news from Israel/Hollywood, politics and antisemitism; have sufficient Jewish background (or curiosity/commitment to learn); work well under pressure; responsive to feedback.
