About Us: The Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity was established in 1986 by Elie Wiesel, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, and his wife, Marion. Elie Wiesel, a Holocaust survivor, author, and human rights advocate, dedicated his life to bearing witness to the atrocities of the Holocaust and promoting human dignity. The EWF was created in the wake of Elie Wiesel receiving the Nobel Peace Prize in 1986, with the goal of combating indifference, intolerance, and injustice. We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Controller to join our team and help manage our financial operations effectively.

Job Summary: The Controller will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, handling accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring compliance with all financial regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in non-profit accounting and a passion for supporting our mission.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including processing invoices and payments.
• Reconcile bank statements, investment accounts and prepare monthly financial reports.
• Payroll processing.
• Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and filings
• Preparation of budgets and financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and policies.
• Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits.
• Track and report on grants and donations.
• Support the preparation of tax documents and filings.
• Collaborate with team members to manage financial planning and analysis.
• Ad Hoc project collaboration.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Controller, preferably in a non-profit organization.
• Exceptional proficiency in Quickbooks Desktop accounting program and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong understanding of non-profit accounting principles and practices.
• Knowledge of international giving and donations
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• High level of integrity and confidentiality.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Benefits:

• Salary commensurate with experience. $40-$45K
