1986

The Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity was established in 1986 by Elie Wiesel, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, and his wife, Marion. Elie Wiesel, a Holocaust survivor, author, and human rights advocate, dedicated his life to bearing witness to the atrocities of the Holocaust and promoting human dignity. The EWF was created in the wake of Elie Wiesel receiving the Nobel Peace Prize in 1986, with the goal of combating indifference, intolerance, and injustice. Today, the Foundation continues to keep Elie Wiesel’s legacy alive by working with partners that foster human rights and programs that inspire ethical values.
