Position Summary
Gateways is currently seeking a creative and skilled instructional designer to support the development of an asynchronous online course, Meeting the Needs of All Learners in Jewish Day Schools. This is an exciting summer (6-8 weeks) opportunity to contribute to a meaningful project that will help Jewish day school educators better support students with disabilities.
The selected candidate will work collaboratively with Gateways’ inclusion and day school experts, led by the Director of Professional Learning and Consultation, in an iterative process to build, refine, and finalize the course.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and develop an engaging, interactive asynchronous online course on inclusive practices for Jewish day school educators.
• Collaborate closely with Gateways’ inclusion and day school experts to integrate subject matter expertise into course content.
• Apply visual and artistic skills to create a polished, professional, and learner-centered course experience.
• Work iteratively with the Director of Professional Learning and Consultation to incorporate feedback and revisions throughout the design process.
• Organize and synthesize information from multiple sources into cohesive and accessible course modules.
Qualifications/Requirements
• Demonstrated experience in instructional design and the development of online or e-learning courses.
• Proficiency with e-learning authoring tools.
• Strong visual and artistic sensibility with the ability to design visually compelling, user-friendly course materials.
• Ability to work collaboratively and responsively in an iterative feedback process.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
• The following are a plus but are not required for this role:
• Background or experience in education, special education, or inclusion.
• Connection to or knowledge of the Jewish community or Jewish educational settings
Compensation and Schedule
Compensation will be $15 to $20 per hour, commensurate with experience.
The project will be 20 hours per week for 6-8 weeks.
