Yad Chessed is a nonprofit organization that provides emergency financial assistance and ongoing support to Jewish individuals and families in need across Massachusetts. Our mission is to help relieve financial distress and support clients in achieving financial stability, while preserving dignity and compassion.
Position Overview
We are seeking a warm, empathetic, and organized Social Worker/Case Manager to join our team part-time. In this role, you will assess client needs, determine eligibility for assistance, and connect individuals and families to resources that promote stability and self-sufficiency. This position includes both remote and in-person work, with the potential to increase hours if client caseloads increase. You will spend part of your time meeting with potential clients in the communities we serve—especially Brighton, Allston, and Brookline and will also work out of our office located in the Newton JCC —to help them access Yad Chessed’s services and other available resources.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage a caseload of clients and conduct intake assessments
Evaluate financial needs and determine appropriate assistance
Provide emergency financial aid, supermarket gift cards, and resource referrals
Meet with prospective clients in person in Brighton, Allston, and Brookline
Build relationships and collaborate with Jewish and secular agencies to address client needs
Maintain accurate records in Salesforce and other systems
Participate in team meetings and case reviews
Educate community leaders and service providers on referral processes
Uphold confidentiality and cultural sensitivity
Preferred Qualifications
1-3+ years of experience in social services or case management
MSW preferred, not required
Familiarity with Jewish community life and traditions is a plus
Experience with financial crisis intervention and budgeting support
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Knowledge of community resources for low-income clients
Computer proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel); Salesforce experience is a plus
Position requires access to a personal vehicle for local travel

Hours: 20 hours per week | Pay: $30–$40/hour (based on experience)
