Camp Medical Professional
Reports to: Camp Director
Status: Seasonal – Part-time or full-time during the summer
Position Summary
The Camp Medical Professional provides campers and staff with individual health care, instructs staff about health
care and health standards, and supervises all programs and facilities as they pertain to community health and
safety. The Camp Medical Professional shall ensure compliance with state regulations and camp policies and
procedures regarding the health and physical welfare of campers and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Health Care Administration
--Provide day-to-day treatment of minor injuries and illnesses for campers and staff as such arise.
--Inspect camp facilities periodically for proper health and safety standards, and report any areas that are not in
compliance to the Camp Director.
--Report to the Camp Director daily in writing, including names of persons requiring ad hoc treatment and any
health or safety concerns.
--Keep all medicine in a locked cabinet in the infirmary.
--Prepare First Aid kits for camp use.
--Distribute to campers and staff prescription medications and maintain proper records to verify same.
--Inventory all medical supplies and equipment, properly store them, and work with Camp Director to order
supplies as necessary.
--Additional duties may be assigned as necessity arises.
Communication
--Serve as a direct contact for parents on camper injury or illness.
--Provide updates to the Camp Director as required and submit end-of-season reports.
--Maintain positive client relations with the parents or guardians of campers, notifying them by phone or in
writing whenever a camper requires treatment, and making sure that parents are aware of any follow up
treatment to be taken when the camper goes home.
Safety and Emergency Management
--Take part in governing health, safety, and compliance protocols.
--In the event of an emergency, proactively call appropriate emergency services, including 911.
Qualifications
--Minimum 21 years old.
--EMTs, LPNs, and RNs encouraged to apply.
--At least 3 years of dealing with medical issues related to children and emergency procedures.
--CPR/First Aid/AED certified.
--Previous experience working with children.
--Able to handle all emergency situations that may arise.
