We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Barre Instructor to join our team and inspire our members through intentional Barre movement and music.
We’re seeking an energetic, inspiring Barre Instructor to lead engaging, results-driven group fitness classes. You’ll bring the heat with your choreography, music, and motivational coaching—helping clients of all levels find their strength and feel amazing every time they step into class.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Barre Group Fitness Instruction:
- Develop safe, effective, and innovative exercise classes providing appropriate modifications when necessary.
- Lead and motivate participants in classes creating a FUN and safe environment for all members.
- Record class participation numbers as requested and monitor capacity to ensure a positive member experience.
- Act as wellness role model and leader as defined by the Group Fitness certification and scope of practice.
- Promote the Group Fitness Schedule and other health and wellness offerings, encouraging member participation in JCC’s diverse array of programs.
- Participate in staff surveys to provide essential feedback for organization improvement opportunities, growth, and development
- Participate in required staff trainings.
- Stay up to date regarding policies, procedures, and other important information shared via email, one-on-one meetings, and/or during trainings.
Member Services/Relations:
- Build strong relationships with members while fostering a sense of community and engagement opportunities.
- Listen to participant feedback/questions and connect members to appropriate staff for information and support.
- Arrive at least 5 minutes before class to coordinate class set up and address participant questions and concerns.
- End class on time to ensure a smooth transition between classes while encouraging participants to clean/stow equipment and exit the studio.
- Maintain a consistent teaching schedule and retain substitute instructors as needed.
- Share key information with members, including but not limited, class schedule changes, upcoming events, workshops and fitness challenges.
Group Fitness Studio Maintenance:
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized studio, ensuring that equipment is properly stowed and ready for the next class.
- Notify key staff of any studio/equipment issues and member feedback in a timely manner.
- Follow the Staff Code of Conduct and adhere to emergency procedures and protocols.
Standard Staff Expectations:
- Actively create an inclusive and welcoming environment so each individual feels valued, respected, and part of the community.
- Actively participate as an essential member of the Health & Wellness team.
- Support JCC Greater Boston’s mission, vision, and values of belonging, joyfulness, collaboration, and transformation, including through personal role modeling.
- Participate in all staff meetings as assigned and contribute to overall organizational success.
- Record hours worked using the Paylocity system in accordance with the payroll schedule and as outlined during the employee onboarding.
- Other duties as assigned.

JOB DETAILS: This is a limited part-time, +/- 1-2 hour per week, non-exempt position. Offering a great perks, a supportive vibrant in-person work environment, and a competitive starting pay rate of $45.00 - $55.00 per hour.
The pay rate offered will ultimately be determined by relevant qualifications, experience, and JCC's internal equity.

Education and Experience: Requires a High School Diploma, College Degree preferred. Certification from an accredited organization in area of expertise, CPR/AED Certified and a Minimum 6 months Barre specific experience in teaching an exercise class in a group setting. Barre certification preferred.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the JCC’s discretion to meet minimum criteria.
Skills and Abilities:
· Remains up to date with continuing education requirements for certification renewal
· Conducts classes safely including the ability to demonstrate exercises
· General knowledge of wellness industry trends
· Excellent customer service and a compassionate spirit
Physical Requirements: Able to work well in-person in a busy, dynamic, and sometimes noisy environment involving multiple tasks. Able to lift and carry objects weighing 30-40 pounds. Able to stand for long periods, up to an hour, sit, kneel, and perform necessary movements for class instruction.
