Under the Direction of the Locker Room Manager, the Men’s Health Center attendant is responsible for maintaining the services and amenities for Men’s Health Center Members. In accordance with the JCC’s standards, the Men’s Health Center Attendant will ensure cleanliness of the Men’s Health Center, manage supplies, maintain clean towel supply, and provide professional customer service to members, as well as effective communication with staff members. The Men’s Health Center functions successfully when each individual works consistently in the performance and completion of daily responsibilities.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of Men’s Health Center facility and all contents:

  • Clean debris and towels out of locker areas, perform walk-throughs every 15 minutes.
  • Store newspapers and magazines neatly on table or magazine rack at all times.
  • Clean and disinfect coffee/TV lounge area during each shift. Wipe down kitchen area counter tops, refrigerator and drawers regularly.
  • Maintain all shelves containing amenities/toiletries by ensuring they are clean, orderly and properly stocked. Check sink area and shelves every 15 minutes and re-stock as needed. Ensure adequate supplies are always available.
  • Clear steam, sauna, playtza rooms of debris (always must be clear).
  • Wipe out the long lockers (the bottom) from any debris once per shift (especially during the winter months).

Monitor, launder and actively maintain clean towel supply:

  • Clean and restock the Towel Tracker throughout the day
  • Stack towels neatly on respective shelves/tables.
  • Transport new loads of laundry every 30 minutes.
  • Remove and clean dirty towels and stock with clean towels.[MS1]
  • Wash, dry and place workout laundry bags in the members’ locker before the next day.
  • Use separate buckets for clean and dirty towels and laundry.
  • Clean lint out of dryer screens after each load.


Perform customer service and communication to resolve issues and maintain supplies:

  • Perform regular walk-throughs (every 10 minutes) of each room (steam, sauna, playtza) to check on the members using the rooms.
  • Perform Member Service - Attend to the needs of the members as needed and/or called upon (adjusting volume on the TVs, answering the phones and relaying messages, and many other member service needs). If you do not have the answer to a question, please get the member’s name and question; give it to your supervisor for follow up (that must happen within 24 hours).
  • Take whirlpool readings once per shift and log into logbook.
  • Notify Facilities when soap dispensers need to be refilled (always must be full).
  • Notify Facilities when shampoo and body soap containers in the shower area need to be refilled (always must be full).
  • Make coffee and refresh throughout the day. Replenish cereal and granola bars as needed.
  • Assist with the set up and clean-up of Sunday breakfast.
  • Notify incoming attendant of key tasks that must be attended to for their upcoming shift.

  • Actively create a welcoming dynamic where each individual feels seen and welcomed.
  • Actively participate as an essential member of the Membership team by completing your job before the end of your shift.
  • Support JCC Greater Boston’s mission, vision, and values of belonging, joyfulness, collaboration and transformation, including through personal role modeling.
  • Participate in all staff meetings as assigned and contribute to overall organizational success.
  • Attend JCCGB All Staff meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Details: This is a limited part-time, 8-12 hour per week, non-exempt position. Offering a great perks, a supportive vibrant in-person work environment, and a competitive starting pay rate of $15.50-$16.50 per hour. The pay rate offered will ultimately be determined by relevant qualifications, experience, and JCC's internal equity.

Education and Experience: Must be 16 years old. High School graduate preferred.

Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the JCC’s discretion to meet minimum criteria.

Physical Requirements: This is a fully in-person, on-site role. Able to work well in a busy, dynamic and sometimes noisy environment involving multiple tasks and priorities. Able to push laundry carts, and to lift and carry objects weighing at 30-40 pounds (e.g. bags of laundry, etc.).
