We’re currently seeking a skilled and Building Maintenance Mechanic to join our Facilities Team. Under the direction of the Facilities Director, the Building Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for monitoring and administering the maintenance, repair, and operation of the JCC Leventhal Sidman campus grounds, buildings/structures, mechanical systems and equipment. This critical role includes ensuring compliance with safety regulations and maintenance standards, and following preventative maintenance schedules. The Building Maintenance Mechanic troubleshoots complex mechanical issues, manages work orders, and maintains accurate records of equipment performance and repairs. Working closely with the Facilities Team, this critical role helps to minimize downtime, optimize equipment efficiency, and support overall operational goals of maintaining a safe, welcoming and fully operational facility.

Perform all aspects of day-to-day required planned and emergent maintenance to ensure safe and operational fitness of the JCC building and grounds:

· Perform general day-to-day upkeep and maintenance of facility and equipment as assigned.

· Maintain and repair the building’s heating and air conditioning system.

· Follow a preventative maintenance schedule for HVAC equipment. Replace/clean filters, belts, motor bearings, dampers,
controls, pumps, heating and air conditioning units according to schedule or as required.

· Maintain and repair all lighting fixtures including emergency lighting systems. Replace bulbs, tubes, sockets, lenses, and ballasts as needed.

· Inspect emergency battery units and exterior and parking lot lighting on a monthly basis. Replace units as needed.

· Maintain and repair all plumbing fixtures throughout building.

· Order supplies, chemical and equipment and maintain stock in accordance with budget guidelines and with the approval of the Facilities Manager.

· Conduct non-emergency scheduled and unscheduled equipment and facility maintenance and/or repairs as needed/as assigned.

· Address any emergent maintenance and/or repair work that occurs on the Leventhal-Sidman campus, its buildings, systems, structures or grounds.

· Perform snow removal duties as required during winter months. Be available for after-hours for snow removal coverage.

· Service all gas-powered equipment including snow blowers and generators.

· Perform any other duties outside of Leventhal-Sidman Campus?

· Inform the Facilities Manager (or Director) is immediately made aware of any equipment or facility issues that may affect safety or environment.

· Inform the Facilities Manager (or Director) is immediately made aware when shortages of critical facility system spare parts are noted.

· Ensures a safe working environment and proper use of PPE.

· Complies with OSHA, EPA, or industry-specific safety standards.

· Completes required documentation, including responding and updating work order system?

Maintain safe and efficient operation of both outdoor and indoor pool systems, including pumps, filters, heaters, chlorination equipment, and other related infrastructure:

· Assist with the opening and closing of the outdoor pool facility. Monitor outdoor pool conditions on a daily basis during summer months.

· Inspect, maintain, and repair pool mechanical systems, including pumps, filters, motors, chemical feeders, and heaters.

· Monitor and maintain appropriate water chemistry, including testing and adjusting pH, chlorine, and other chemical levels as needed to ensure water balance and sanitation.

· Troubleshoot and resolve issues with plumbing, electrical systems, and water circulation.

· Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on all pool equipment and systems.

· Maintain accurate maintenance and repair logs.

· Ensure compliance with local health and safety codes, as well as environmental regulations.

· Assist with seasonal pool opening and closing procedures.

· Respond promptly to pool-related maintenance issues or emergencies.

· Maintain cleanliness and organization in the pool mechanical room and storage areas.

· Coordinate with vendors or contractors as needed for major repairs or installations.

Perform administrative tasks necessary to ensure efficient work completion, documentation and supply management:

· Order supplies, chemical and equipment and maintain stock in accordance with budget guidelines and with the approval of the Facilities Manager

· Schedules contractors for repairs and deliveries

· Assist in developing and managing inventory, and facilitating spare parts procurement

· Respond to emergency maintenance issues during and outside regular working hours as needed

· Performs other duties as required by the Facilities Director.

· Participate in long-term planning and equipment lifecycle management.

· Completes required documentation, including accurate logs, service records and repair data

This full-time, salaried, fully on-site position offers a comprehensive benefits package, a supportive work environment , and a competitive starting salary of $50,000 – $65,000 annually. The salary offered will ultimately be determined by relevant qualifications, experience, and JCC's internal equity.

Requires a High School Diploma and 5 years of related experience.

Knowledge and Experience in general maintenance, plumbing, electrical, mechanical repairs and swimming pool maintenance required.

Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the JCC’s discretion to meet this minimum hiring criteria.

Skills and Abilities:

· In-depth understanding of mechanical systems and repair

· Ability to diagnose/troubleshoot systems and repair

· Skilled in executing machine and equipment maintenance

· Expertise in using hand tools, power tools and operation of snow removal equipment

· Ability to read and follow schematics, service manuals and written instructions.

· Demonstrates excellent organizational and time management skills

· Demonstrates the ability to multitask and manage situations effectively and diplomatically; ability to adapt to evolving needs and circumstances.

· Must be a self-starter who takes the initiative.

· Demonstrates a history of superb interpersonal and active listening skills

· Must have a record of successfully working well independently and with others, building/sustaining collaborative working relationships.

· Demonstrates a commitment to building strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders.

***Must have experience with pool operation and maintenance. Certified Pool Operator (CPO) preferred.

Physical Requirements: The Building Maintenance Mechanic position requires a full-time, on-site presence. Must be able to work well in a busy, dynamic and sometimes noisy environment involving multiple tasks and priorities. Able to lift and carry objects weighing 50 pounds+ (boxes of supplies, tools, etc.). Able to carry and climb ladders; Work while standing on ladders; Work in confined spaces; Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting and kneeling; work in various temperature ranges including outdoors.
