Sefaria, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building the future of Torah in an open and participatory way, seeks a highly organized, adaptable, and proactive Special Assistant to support the Chief Learning Officer (CLO).

Position Overview

The Special Assistant, Chief Learning Officer role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of Jewish learning and technology. The role will support the CLO’s work with partner organizations, foundations, and other key stakeholders in advancing Sefaria's strategic initiatives.

The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with exceptional communication skills and the ability to prioritize competing demands for the CLO. This role will combine Jewish literacy and operational aptitude to execute on a variety of initiatives from researching content for the library to producing virtual and in-person speaking engagements for the CLO.

This position includes significant administrative and operational responsibilities such as scheduling, arranging travel and accommodations, booking venues, coordinating AV setup and catering, and more. It requires strong communication and coordination skills, exceptional attention to detail, and excellent time management.

We’re looking for someone who is highly collaborative, maintains a positive demeanor, and keeps work moving forward smoothly. This person is a self-starter and an adaptive, diplomatic project coordinator who can follow up with colleagues kindly yet effectively to ensure tasks are completed on time.

This is a full-time, remote position based in the US Eastern time zone with a preference for someone located in the Washington D.C. area.

In this position, you will do the following:

  • Provide administrative support to the CLO, including managing a complex calendar with a high volume of internal and external meetings
  • Manage relationships with partner organizations, including scheduling meetings, tracking follow-ups, and maintaining communication
  • Track contacts and interactions in Salesforce and use Monday.com to coordinate projects, timelines, and deliverable
  • Create, edit, and organize internal and external communications and documentation, including memos, presentations, and partner correspondence
  • Draft project plans and drive project management, with strategic lens and a strong attention to detail, making suggestions to keep projects moving forward
  • Complete special projects for the CLO, including preparing digital presentations and strategic documents
  • Attend meetings as requested, take meeting notes as needed, and handle follow-up
  • Manage logistics, travel, budgeting, and event planning for both Sefaria-hosted events and those attended by the CLO (e.g., conferences, fundraising meetings, etc.)
  • Occasional US travel (4-7 times per year), and occasional international travel (up to 2 times per year) to manage events and meetings for the CLO
  • Track key initiatives and maintain operational alignment for the CLO's portfolio

Experience, Qualifications, and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a related field
  • At least two years of relevant work experience; can include internships and work-study positions
  • Prior experience in nonprofit operations, education, project coordination, or Jewish communal work is a plus
  • Demonstrated success working independently in a remote setting
  • Working knowledge of Jewish culture and texts
  • Fluency (reading, writing, speaking) in Hebrew is a plus
  • Excellent writing and editing skills: emails, memos, and presentation decks
  • Superior time management skills
  • Highly organized, reliable, flexible, and collaborative
  • Experience working in an administrative capacity with an eye toward systems thinking and efficiency
  • Discretion with sensitive and confidential information
  • Proficiency in working with technology in an online work environment, including Salesforce, Google Suite, Slack, Monday.com, Zoom (training will be provided as needed)

Compensation

            • The annual salary range for this position is $63,000 - $68,000
