Sefaria, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building the future of Torah in an open and participatory way, seeks a full-time Senior UX/UI Designer to craft intuitive, accessible digital experiences that make Jewish texts and learning more engaging and available to users worldwide.
Position Overview
The Senior UX/UI Designer will work independently on design projects and contribute strategic design guidance across Sefaria suite of products. This position will work with a wide array of teams and colleagues to define, research, and create innovative designs that engage users and meet organizational goals. We are looking for a mission-driven designer with strong visual design skills, UX fluency, and a deep understanding of Hebrew and English-speaking users.
This is a full-time role. You must be based in Israel and available for occasional in-person meetings in Jerusalem and/or Tel Aviv. This role will need to work in the evening (Israel time) 2-3 days per week to sufficiently overlap with colleagues in the US.
In this position, you will do the following:
- Design thoughtful, intuitive, and elegant user experiences across web, mobile web, and native iOS and Android apps.
- Lead product design efforts from ideation and user flows to wireframes, prototypes, and final pixel-perfect UI.
- Think holistically about the user experience across platforms and help shape product direction through design thinking and user-centered, data-informed insights.
- Collaborate with product managers and engineers, present and defend your ideas and decisions.
- Build and maintain design systems and Figma component libraries.
- Participate in user research and usability testing (especially in Hebrew and English contexts).
- Ensure web, mobile, and app experiences are effective for Hebrew and English users.
Experience, Qualifications, and Requirements
- 5-6 years of hands-on product design experience across web, mobile web, and native apps.
- Expert Figma skills, including component libraries and prototypes.
- Proven ability to drive the entire design lifecycle, from concept to production.
- Experience collaborating closely with engineers in agile, iterative product teams.
- Knowledge of Judaic texts (e.g., Torah, Talmud, Kabbalistic works, halakhic works, commentaries, etc.).
- Fluent in Hebrew and English (reading, writing, speaking).
- Experience designing for and working with Hebrew and English-speaking audiences.
- Experience conducting or evaluating user research, preferred.
- Familiarity with accessibility and design for multilingual interfaces, preferred.

Compensation
- Generous paid time off, including: 15 vacation days; 18 sick days; approximately 16 Jewish holidays and full closure for Passover.
- Standard Israeli taxes and benefits plus Keren Hishtalmut.
- Home utility reimbursements.
- Fully paid parental leave ranging from 8 to 13 weeks, depending on circumstances.
Location
The Senior UX/UI Designer may be based anywhere in Israel.
- This role will require occasional meetings in Jerusalem and/or Tel Aviv and availability in the evening (Israel time), 2-3 days per week, to sufficiently overlap with colleagues in the US.
