Caregiver/Family Advocacy and Support Services enhance the youth’s ability, regardless of disability (developmental, physical, and/or behavioral), to function as part of a family unit and enhances the family’s ability to care for the youth in the home and/or community as well as, provides the youth, family and caregivers with techniques and information so that they can better respond to the needs of the participant. These services are intended to assist the youth and family in understanding and addressing the participant’s needs related to their disabilities.
Responsibilities include:
- Interact and engage with family and youth to offer educational, advocacy, and support resources to develop family’s ability to independently access community services and activities
- Provide guidance in the principles of youth’s chronic condition or life-threatening illness
- Train youth and/or the family in methods and behaviors to enable success in the community, self-advocacy and self sufficiency
Requirements:
- Level 1: Requires a high school diploma or GED, with experience working with youth
- Level 2: Requires a Bachelors degree plus two years of related experience, or Masters degree in education or human services field plus one year of applicable experience
Valid NY or NJ Driver’s license preferred. Good English communication skills a must. Flexible part time, after school hours. Locations include Brooklyn, Queens, Far Rockaway and Long Island
Salary: Level 1 $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
Level 2 $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
