The Albert and Ann Deshur JCC Rainbow Day Camp is excited to launch a new program: Bonim Farms. Bonim Farms will focus on the growing and harvesting of produce as well as the making and packaging of spices, teas and other herbs. The Farm will inspire its employees (Farm Fellows) who are adults with special needs and diverse abilities to strive towards independence, self-determination and a life filled with purpose, friendship and inclusion.
The Bonim Farm Fellows will work during the growing season on part time basis. They will participate in every aspect of the enterprise which includes farming, harvesting, packaging, sales, marketing and branding.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the annual set up and take down of the JCC Rainbow Day Camp Garden
- Over the summer season, the Bonim Farms Fellows will help maintain the garden
- Staff will harvest the produce for the Milwaukee Jewish Food Pantry as well as the Bonim Farmers Market
- The Bonim Farm Staff will have a larger role in the entire Bonim Farmers Market including the business and sales components
- Staff will work on the creation and packaging of different spices
