Position Summary
The Head of Impact, Evaluation, and Technology is a strategic leader responsible for advancing JVS’s mission through the effective use of data, evaluation, and technology. This role sets the vision for how data is leveraged to drive performance, accountability, and learning across the organization, while also ensuring that technology systems—including Salesforce and core IT infrastructure—support the organization's operational and strategic needs.
Working in close partnership with the Executive Team, program leaders, and technical teams, this individual will lead the development of a robust monitoring and evaluation framework, manage data infrastructure and analytics capabilities, and provide strategic oversight of IT systems and operations. The Head of Impact, Evaluation, and Technology will supervise a cross-functional team and act as the primary liaison to key technology and managed service providers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitoring, Evaluation & Impact Strategy
  • Collaborate with Executive Leadership to establish clear vision for the use of data at JVS, including:
  • Determining what data should be reviewed by the Board, Leadership Team, and program staff, and at what frequency.
  • Clarifying logic models at both the organization and program levels.
  • Defining the cost-effective scope of measurement across inputs, outputs, and outcomes.
  • Guide programs in refining their impact models and setting measurable, relevant goals.
  • Goal Setting and Performance Alignment
  • Support VP’s and Program Leaders in setting strategic goals that align with JVS’s mission and values.
  • Lead change management efforts to align stakeholders around shared goals, balancing the needs of leadership and program teams.
  • Create frameworks where similar services adopt consistent and comparable goals and metrics.
  • Technical Implementation & Data Infrastructure
  • Design and oversee the implementation of data systems capable of supporting cohort tracking, funnel analysis, and performance reporting across varied program models.
  • Lead the development of impactful dashboards and reports using Salesforce dashboard and business intelligence tools to support decision-making at all levels of the organization.
  • Collaborate with data engineers to implement modern data pipelines using DevOps and CI/CD best practices, ensuring data integrity, monitoring, and error alerting.
  • Data Culture & Capacity Building
  • Act as a champion for data literacy and a culture of continuous improvement across the organization.
  • Empower program staff to answer key questions through training, self-service analytics, and accessible data tools.
  • Partner with the Salesforce Product Owner to ensure Salesforce remains a reliable, standardized source of truth for program data.
  • Team Leadership & Management
  • Directly manage a cross-functional team including:
  • Data Analyst
  • Salesforce Product Owner
  • IT Support Specialist
  • Ensure collaboration, professional development, and alignment across internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Lead team planning and budgeting processes.
  • Technology & Systems Oversight
  • Oversee organizational IT strategy, cybersecurity, and daily operations in partnership with the IT Manager and external providers.
  • Ensure that technology systems—including Salesforce, productivity tools, and communications platforms—support JVS’s operational needs.
  • Guide the selection, implementation, and user adoption of new technologies.
  • Partnership & Vendor Management
  • Serve as the primary liaison to external managed service providers, including Salesforce consultants and IT vendors.
  • Establish and manage vendor relationships, ensuring service quality, accountability, and alignment with organizational goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field such as economics, business, data science, etc.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in monitoring and evaluation, data analytics, IT systems management, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage change.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.
  • Proven leadership in designing and implementing organizational data strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of logic models, goal setting frameworks, and outcome measurement.
  • Experience working with data wareshouses and business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Preferred:
  • Experience in the nonprofit, workforce development, or social services sectors.
  • Familiarity with modern data engineering practices
  • Experience managing or overseeing Salesforce in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment.
  • Background in IT governance, cybersecurity, and vendor management.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Hybrid work environment: 2 days per week in the Boston office and 3 days remote.
  • Occasional travel or flexible hours may be required for meetings, trainings, or special events.
