The Mayerson JCC connects people so that they can live happier and fuller lives, creating a more vibrant Jewish community. The JCC helps to foster social connections between its members and guests alike, bringing people together through a wide variety of programs and events. With an expansive fitness center, highly regarded early childhood school and senior center, arts and cultural events offered throughout the year, and classes for every age, the JCC connects, enriches, and inspires over 50,000 visitors per month. The JCC welcomes and engages everyone, regardless of race, religion, or ability.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Jewish Life & Learning serves as the lead Jewish educator, relationship-builder, and community connector for the Mayerson JCC. This role advances Jewish life across the organization by integrating Jewish values, learning, culture, and belonging into programs, spaces, and relationships throughout the JCC.
The ideal candidate understands that the JCC is often the most accessible entry point into Jewish communal life and approaches the work with warmth, curiosity, creativity, and hospitality. They are equally comfortable leading Jewish learning and holiday experiences, facilitating conversations about contemporary Jewish life, supervising educational staff, collaborating across departments, and serving as a visible presence within both the JCC and the broader Cincinnati Jewish community.
This role supervises the Early Childhood School Jewish Educator and partners closely with staff and leadership across the organization to create meaningful Jewish experiences for individuals and families of all backgrounds and levels of engagement. Success in this position requires someone who thrives on relationship-building, leads by example, and embraces both the strategic and everyday work of cultivating community. MORE ABOUT THE ROLE
Jewish Vision, Strategy & Organizational Leadership
  • Develop, lead and implement a cohesive vision for Jewish life and learning across the JCC including organization-wide thematic initiatives connected to Jewish values, holidays, culture, and contemporary Jewish life.
  • Partner with organizational leadership to ensure Jewish values and culture are woven throughout allareas of the JCC experience.
  • Serve as a visible, public-facing Jewish leader within both the JCC and broader Cincinnati community.
  • Develop and implement innovative approaches to Jewish engagement that reflect the evolving needs of contemporary individuals and families.
  • Partner with staff to infuse Jewish values, traditions, culture, and learning into existing programs andcommunity experiences.
  • Foster partnerships with synagogues, schools, camps, agencies, clergy, and community organizations.
  • Develop collaborative community initiatives centered around interfaith work and Jewish communal partnerships.
Educational Programming & Facilitation
  • Supervise and support the Early Childhood School Jewish Educator.
    Partner with Early Childhood School leadership to strengthen Jewish learning, culture, and family engagement throughout the school community.
  • Collaborate on family engagement opportunities connected to Jewish holidays, traditions, and values.
  • Lead holiday programming, Shabbat experiences, cultural celebrations, workshops, and community conversations.
  • Develop accessible and engaging educational materials, experiential opportunities, and community-building initiatives.
Operations & Administration
  • Manage departmental budgets, calendars, logistics, and program evaluation.
  • Track participation, engagement outcomes, and organizational impact.
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications teams on storytelling and promotion of Jewish life initiatives.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, grant opportunities, and organizational priorities.
CANDIDATES SHOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Jewish Education, Jewish Studies, Education, Experiential Education, or related field preferred.
  • Significant experience in Jewish communal work, experiential Jewish education, engagement, camps, JCCs, synagogues, schools, or related settings.
  • Demonstrated success building relationships and engaging diverse audiences.
  • Experience supervising staff and leading cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of Jewish traditions, culture, values, and contemporary Jewish life.
  • Exceptional facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Creative, entrepreneurial mindset with a willingness to innovate and experiment.
  • Comfort working both strategically and operationally in a fast-paced communal environment.
  • Passion for building vibrant, accessible, and relationship-driven Jewish community.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working within a JCC or community-based Jewish organization.
  • Background in experiential education and engagement methodologies.
  • Experience working with interfaith families and individuals with varied levels of Jewish literacy and connection.
  • Comfort facilitating nuanced and respectful conversations around contemporary Jewish issues.
  • Experience partnering across departments and organizational systems.

Pay Range: $90,000 - $95,000 per hour
