The Assistant Aquatics Director, Teaching and Learning, is responsible for overseeing all instructional and competitive swim programs, including J Swim School, Swim Teams, and American Red Cross Lifeguard and First Aid Certification courses. This role also supports the day-to-day operations of the Aquatics Department.
Qualifications and Responsibilities:
- Minimum of three years' experience in the aquatics field.
- Prior experience coordinating or managing aquatics programs.
- Ability to teach swim lessons when needed.
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to respond promptly to inquiries.
- Positive, charismatic, and professional demeanor.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and support staff.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
- Flexible availability, with standard hours Sunday (9:00 AM–5:00 PM) and Monday through Thursday (11:00 AM–7:00 PM).
- Must hold or be willing to obtain the following certifications:
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Certification
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with staff, participants, and community members.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience, including planning, budgeting, team building, conflict resolution, and staff performance evaluation.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also excelling independently.
- Flexibility to work varied hours in a fast-paced, active environment.
- Willingness to serve as a lifeguard and swim instructor as needed.
- Openness to additional responsibilities as assigned in support of the Aquatics Department.
