Who We Are:
Elluminate is a catalyst for gender justice and social innovation. Our mission is to create social change by developing and supporting Jewish women’s leadership in the nonprofit world and building a global network for changemakers – leaders and the philanthropists who support them. Over the past seven years, Elluminate has evolved from a traditional grant making organization into a vibrant, forward-thinking, feminist powerhouse. Our programs include The Collective, our signature cohort-based fellowship program for Jewish women nonprofit CEOs, and programs for donors designed to advance the idea of gender-based philanthropy.

Who You Are: We are looking for a Chief Development Office (CDO) that is passionate about our mission and will lead the implementation of Elluminate’s economic growth and scale plan. She will be bold, creative and eager to have an impact on this organization and global women’s leadership. Our goal is to increase donations and revenue base to allow Elluminate to grow the organization, programming, outreach, visibility and impact. The CDO will be responsible for the overall direction, execution, and management of fundraising strategies to broaden awareness of and support for the organization and its mission. The expectation is that the CDO will increase our major donor base, forge private sector partnerships and fundraising alliances and increase foundation grant support that will enable Elluminate to expand its reach and impact, diversify individual and institutional giving channels, and increase contributed income. This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to the CEO, working collaboratively to activate the organizational vision and strategic priorities.
  • Design, assess, and lead execution of the organization’s multi-year fundraising strategies— including supporter acquisition, major gifts, annual giving solicitations via various channels, including digital, special events, planned giving, corporate partnerships, and institutional giving, successfully growing revenue and the supporter base to meet and surpass organizational goals.
  • Work directly with CEO, Elluminate’s Board and Engagement Committee members to develop and implement an annual fundraising plan, including key goals, objectives, and metrics for the organization as well as individual team members.
  • Develop and execute supporter engagement strategies to increase supporter satisfaction and loyalty, and decrease attrition.
  • Strategically develop partnerships, alliances, and joint ventures with public and private sector entities.
  • Participate in developing and executing in partnership with CEO and marketing consultants distinctive brand positioning for Elluminate, attracting new supporters and audiences to Elluminate’s cause for gender justice and social change.
  • Serve as a member of the executive management team and participate in the development and implementation of organizational strategies, plans, and budgets to achieve Elluminate’s goals.
  • Manages the day to day fundraising directly engages with donors, key stakeholders, and development and marketing staff to implement strategies.
  • Provide regular reports to the Board and CEO on fundraising and marketing activities, progress towards goals, and areas for improvement.
  • Serve as staff liaison for the Board’s Engagement Committee.
  • Travel as required (domestic and international) to represent Elluminate with supporters, donors, prospects, and stakeholders.

Skills/Qualifications/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced education or nonprofit administration, business, or a related area preferred with a minimum of 10+ years of management experience in increasingly responsible positions in fundraising and/or marketing environments or equivalent. Experience and expertise in marketing a plus,
  • Entrepreneurial, creative thinker with experience managing, leading, and growing a team.
  • Excellent fundraiser with proven track-record of raising funds and implementing a strategic economic growth plan. Proven success in generating significant philanthropic revenue.
  • Ability to motivate others and take initiative as a self-starter as well as work as a team player.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, develop, and foster relationships internally and externally.
  • Experience using database software for development with an understanding and interest in utilizing and applying analytics.
  • Ability to interact with high-level individuals and groups as well as all levels of people across the Elluminate organization.
  • Clear written, verbal, and visual presentation communication skills.
  • Expert analytical, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Must be a team player who welcomes collaborative decision making.
  • Must have flexibility to attend work-related programs, events, and gatherings on weeknight evenings and weekends when necessary.

Salary/Benefits: Offered salary: $160,000 – 180,000 based on experience and a generous benefits package.
