Principal Responsibilities:
- Early Childhood Education including Parenting Center for expecting families and families with infants and toddlers along with DOE and fee for service nursery school for 2-5 year olds.
- Internal Youth Programs including fee-for-service after school, inclusion and special needs, literacy and enrichment;
- City-funded after school programs for Middle School and High School students in public schools;
- A Summer Jewish Day Camp shared by 3 JCCs (650+ campers)
- Center for Workforce Development for adults including the Summer Youth Employment Program for teens.
- Norman E. Alexander Center for Jewish Life including teen programs such as the Jewish-Latinx Youth Council
- Fitness Center, Sports, and Wellness
Key to the successful candidate's success will be their ability to understand the diverse populations we serve and ensure there are programmatic and experiential offerings for all, implementing strong operational practices, and ensuring programs are high-quality and financially sustainable. The successful candidate will have experience managing multiple and often simultaneous projects; building teams with staff and volunteers; working with marketing, HR and finance staff, and have exposure to the Board of Directors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develop and oversee the Y's strategic vision, short and long-term goals, and outputs.
- Based on community needs, identify areas where programs can expand their presence.
- Run regular team meetings and check-ins with direct reports; provide ongoing support to staff.
- Develop and strengthen partnerships with organizations (CBO's, schools, elected officials and places of worship).
- Represent the Y in external forums; participate in and promote Y programs
- Along with Marketing staff, develop and implement various program marketing strategies.
- Lead and support fundraising efforts to enhance the quality of programs and services.
- Model commitment to the values and goals of the Y and champion and articulate the Y's culture.
Program Planning, Implementation, Evaluation, and Continuous Development
- Work with the directors of the Y's core programs (Parenting Center, Nursery School, Camps, Youth and Recreation, External Youth Programs, Workforce Development, Senior Center, and Social Services) to instill a common set of values based on Jewish tradition, and develop meaningful, high-quality, and engaging content.
- Responsible for planning, running, supervising, evaluating, and enhancing programs and experiences, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and community needs.
- Develop signature programs and initiatives to raise the profile of the Y.
Compliance and Administration
- Ensure timely compliance and responsiveness to funders, including private donors, UJA, governmental oversight agencies and foundations.
- Complete all system-wide reporting and paperwork requirements in a timely and accurate manner.
Professional Development
- Responsible for the Professional Development of program staff members, including ongoing coaching, mentoring, performance feedback, and training opportunities.
- Work with Human Resources to attract, recruit, develop, retain, and perform evaluations of high quality staff.
- Expose the Y staff to learning opportunities starting from the onboarding process.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
- Directly supervise 5-6 Managing Directors
- Responsible for a team of 40 FT staff and 250 PT/seasonal staff.
- Full- time position requiring occasional work on Sundays as well as ensuring presence during weekday evenings
- Able to travel to different sites in New York City (mainly in Upper Manhattan).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree required, preferably in a field related to Non Profit Management, Education, Social Work, Public Administration, and related fields.
- At least ten (10) years of management experience overseeing diverse portfolios of experience, preferably including both Jewish educational based and government funded programs.
- Strong ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to effectively communicate in a variety of settings.
- Proficient in the use of Google Suite, Microsoft Office, CRM systems and social media.
- Compensation range of $125,000 - $175,000 based on experience, skillset, and education.

- Documentation of U.S. citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S.
