Development Associate or Development Executive, Manhattan Division

The Manhattan Division at UJA engages donors through meaningful volunteer projects, content-rich experiences, synagogue affiliation, neighborhood-based networks, UJA Pride, community events, and leadership development. The Center for Youth Philanthropy and Leadership (CYPL) at UJA sits in the Manhattan Division and provides an opportunity for families to connect to UJA’s work through a lens of intergenerational philanthropy.
The Development Associate or Development Executive will be responsible for the development, implementation, facilitation, and daily needs of The Philanthropic Advisory Council for Teens (PACT) that engages 150 teens and their families every year. They will also partner with the director of CYPL to think strategically about creating new pathways for family engagement in UJA’s work.
They will also oversee the Upper West Side and general Manhattan fundraising portfolios. They will be charged with cultivating donor relationships to strengthen the UJA annual campaign through one-on-one engagement, group programs and events, educational content, leadership opportunities, and more.
Responsibilities include research, engagement, cultivation, solicitation of funds, implementation events, committee meetings, educational projects, and volunteer activities. Collaboration within the Manhattan team and other departments within 59th Street.
Major Responsibilities:
- Manage Upper West Side fundraising portfolio and develop prospecting strategy to grow UJA’s donor base within the neighborhood of the Upper West Side.
- Develop and implement appropriate fundraising strategies to increase the dollars raised for the annual campaign from newly identified communities within the Upper West Side.
- Provide support and work closely with the director of CYPL to participate in strategic planning for the overall department.
- Work with the director of CYPL to develop and implement programming for families with high school-aged children
- Oversee the facilitation of the PACT program at all PACT events, including the seven PACT Sunday sessions.
- Support Manhattan team through event staffing.
- Maintain records of donor portfolios and evaluate progress regularly with supervisor
Competencies/Experience:
- Experience in teen education, engagement, and family programming.
- Excellent relationship building, interpersonal skills, and customer-service orientation.
- Ability to inspire and influence others.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team and to manage multiple tasks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required, as well as active listening skills.
- Knowledge of issues facing the Jewish community and a strong commitment and passion to the mission of UJA-Federation.
- Entrepreneurial and self-starter.
- Willingness to be flexible with time and to work on Sundays as needed.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to solve problems and work independently.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Three – five years’ experience preferred.
Reports to: Assistant Director, Manhattan Division
Salary: $66,500 – 75,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
