About the Opportunity
The Senior Writer, Proposals and Impact Reporting is a creative and analytic role focused on researching and developing high-quality, donor-centered proposals and stewardship reports that inspire philanthropic investment in the Jewish community.
Collaborating with fundraising, marketing, and planning departments, this role is responsible for translating complex impact data and stories into visually compelling, persuasive proposals and reports tailored to UJA’s donors and the Greater Toronto Jewish Foundation’s fundholders. Reporting to the Associate Director, Content Operations, the Senior Writer strengthens stewardship practices by delivering thoughtful, data-informed reporting that deepens donor and fundholder relationships and trust.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the research, writing, and design of compelling proposals and stewardship reports aligned with donor and fundholder priorities
- Manage the full proposal and report lifecycle, including briefing, content development, design execution, review cycles, and final delivery
- Research and translate complex program data and community impact stories into clear, persuasive narratives
- Partner with fundraising and planning teams to identify proposal opportunities aligned with donors’ philanthropic priorities and community needs
- Collaborate with planning staff to gather impact information and ensure accuracy
- Create and maintain templates, design standards, and messaging to elevate consistency and quality across all proposal materials
- Support the continuous improvement of proposal and stewardship report writing by regularly identifying opportunities for efficiency and deeper donor engagement
- Ensure all materials reflect UJA’s mission, values, and brand
Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in proposal writing, grant writing, or fundraising communications, or a related field
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with strong attention to clarity, tone, and impact
- Demonstrated experience working with data and translating it into insights
- Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar design platforms is an asset
- Relevant post-secondary education in communications, journalism, non-profit management, public administration or marketing, or equivalent experience
*This is a full-time permanent position. Union Level 6. Salary range: $79,00-$89,000 annually, based on experience. At UJA we support a flexible work schedule and all of our employees engage in hybrid work. In addition to a rich time off policy, UJA’s offices are closed on all Jewish holy days (yom tov) and we support early office closures to observe the Jewish Sabbath (Shabbat).
