About the Opportunity

UJA is seeking a highly disciplined, strategic, and data-driven Director, Marketing to lead the marketing engine for our mass donor portfolio (donors under $10,000).

This is a role for a marketer who thrives in direct sales, CPG, performance marketing, or D2C environments, where segmentation, channel specificity, disciplined planning, and measurable revenue outcomes drive success. Reporting to the Vice President, Marketing and Brand, you will build and execute the annual revenue-driving marketing plan for this segment, ensuring that every tactic — from digital to direct mail to events — ladders up to a unified fundraising strategy.

You will lead both the strategy and execution behind our mass donor marketing ecosystem, ensuring the right message reaches the right audience on the right channel with the right.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Revenue-Driving Marketing Leadership

  • Build and own the annual marketing and revenue plan for donors under $10,000, demonstrating how strategies and tactics contribute to annual fundraising goals.
  • Develop disciplined, channel-specific plans (DM, SMS, email, website, paid and organic social, digital advertising) tailored for unique donor segments.
  • Forecast performance, set KPIs, and support the development of dashboards and reporting in partnership with internal analytics teams.

Integrated Fundraising Ecosystem Leadership

  • Ensure all fundraising touchpoints function as components that all work together to support a cohesive mass donor strategy, that includes:
    Events, Annual Campaign launch, Cellathons, Collector campaigns (8 Nights of Giving, Global Seder), Mobilization efforts (Walk with Israel, Littlest Volunteer), and other grassroots initiatives, and web and digital donation experiences.
  • Develop a unified donor journey where these tactics reinforce each other and contribute collectively to mass-donor revenue growth.
  • Build a coordinated annual calendar mapping donor touchpoints to maximize giving and learning (why UJA) opportunities throughout the year.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure synchronization of messaging, timing, targeting, and creative across all channels and experiences.

Direct Response & Performance Marketing

  • Lead all direct response marketing — print, email, SMS, social, landing pages, and digital conversion flows – working in partnership with fundraising partners.
  • Use proven marketing tactics (e.g., matches, time-bound opportunities, and other motivators) to resonate with prospects and donors and encourage giving.
  • Oversee segmentation and dynamic content strategies to increase personalization and relevance.
  • Develop test-and-learn plans to strengthen message performance and conversion rates.

Channel Strategy & Creative Execution

  • Ensure each channel is optimized with platform-native creative and tailored messaging, including:
    Direct Mail, Email, SMS, Paid Social, Organic Social, Digital Advertising, Web
  • Work closely with Creative and Brand teams to produce content aligned with UJA’s refreshed brand and with the behavioural expectations of each channel.

Data, Insights & Optimization

  • Work closely with UJA’s DART (Data, Analytics, Research & Technology) team to ensure segmentation, analytics, and insight development inform strategy, targeting, and optimization.
  • Partner with DART to build testing roadmaps, dashboards, reporting frameworks, and performance analyses.
  • Ensure a culture of evidence-based decision-making grounded in measurable outcomes.

Leadership, Collaboration & Team Development

  • Lead and develop a small, high-performing team of marketing professionals, fostering strong strategic thinking, operational excellence, and accountability.
  • Build strong partnerships across Events, Development, Creative, Digital, Brand, and Communications to ensure alignment and integration across all fundraising activations.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor and thought partner to the VP, Marketing and Brand.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field; advanced degree an asset.

Experience

  • 8+ years in performance marketing, direct response, CPG, D2C, subscription, or other revenue-focused environments.
  • Track record of building multi-channel plans tied to revenue outcomes.
  • Experience in donor or customer acquisition, conversion, retention, and value optimization.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Events, Digital, Creative, and Fundraising teams is an asset.
  • Nonprofit or fundraising experience is an asset but not required.

* This is a full-time permanent position. Salary Range: $100,000–$115,000 annually, based on experience. At UJA we support a flexible work schedule and all of our employees engage in hybrid work.
