Job Description
As a Research Analyst, you will play a key role in collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing information to support the organization’s operational efforts. You will conduct in-depth research on a wide range of topics, uncover key insights, identify risks, and discover opportunities. Your findings will directly inform decision-making at both tactical and strategic levels.
In this role, you will act as a navigator—guiding the team by identifying optimal paths forward and anticipating potential risks. You will be expected to provide timely alerts and actionable recommendations to mitigate risks and ensure the organization is prepared to address emerging challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Analysis: Analyze large datasets to identify patterns, trends, and inconsistencies that may indicate threats or suspicious activity.
- Issue Investigation: Examine incidents and developments to produce actionable insights based on threat assessments.
- Research Execution: Use a variety of tools, databases, and methodologies to gather and assess information in a constantly evolving threat environment.
- Report Preparation: Produce clear, concise reports that summarize findings and provide practical recommendations for sharing with authorities and stakeholders.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance shared knowledge and support community safety.
- Continuous Learning: Stay current with emerging technologies, legal frameworks, and industry trends to improve investigative methods and ensure compliance.
Job Requirements
Must Have:
- Proven experience as a security, intelligence, or risk analyst.
- High motivation, strong teamwork skills, and flexibility to work non-standard hours when required (mutual flexibility assured).
- Demonstrated experience in writing operationalized reports, with the ability to communicate findings clearly and concisely.
- Deep knowledge of the Canadian violent extremism threat.
- Ability to operate simultaneously as a tactical investigator and a subject-matter expert, with a strong understanding of the broader threat ecosystem.
- Familiarity with social media platforms, online forums, and open-source information websites.
- Strong sense of confidentiality and a high level of data protection awareness.
Nice to have:
- Law enforcement intelligence/crime analysis experience
- Familiarity with compliance standards (e.g., PIPEDA)
- Knowledge of databases, data storage solutions, and knowledge management practices
Salary Range: 75,000-90,000 CAD
