About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Campaign Mass, UJA is seeking a strategic, data-driven, and results-oriented fundraising leader to serve as Senior Manager, Direct Marketing within the Integrated Fundraising Department.
This senior role is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive, multi-channel fundraising and marketing strategy that drives donor acquisition, retention, and revenue growth. The successful candidate will oversee an integrated portfolio spanning direct mail, digital, and telefundraising, ensuring every campaign is cohesive, creative, and performance-driven.
The Senior Manager will play a central fundraising role in achieving UJA’s annual giving goals, accountable for raising approximately $3 million annually while deepening donor relationships and advancing UJA’s brand presence across all channels.
This position blends strategic fundraising and marketing leadership, requiring an exceptional communicator who understands both the art and science of donor engagement.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and execute a robust, multi-channel direct marketing strategy designed to achieve ambitious growth targets for revenue and donor acquisition over the next three years.
- Lead and manage campaigns across direct mail, email, telefundraising, and digital platforms, integrating data insights, creative storytelling, and segmentation to drive performance.
- Accountable for delivering a bold 25% increase in new donor acquisitions and a 15% uplift in returning donors through targeted, data-driven fundraising tactics during the 2026 Campaign season.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Fundraising, Marketing, Mobilization, and others) to align messaging, timing, and strategy across channels.
- Leverage data and analytics through Salesforce CRM to identify priority segments, optimize campaigns, and report on results and trends.
- Monitor performance metrics, analyze campaign outcomes, and make recommendations for continuous improvement in ROI, response rates, and donor retention.
- Manage peer-to-peer and special fundraising initiatives, applying direct marketing best practices to engage new and diverse audiences. (Annual Walk with Israel, 8 Nights of Giving, and Global Seder)
- Develop segmentation and data strategies to personalize outreach and build stronger relationships with donors.
- Champion innovation, testing new tools, tactics, and ideas to enhance engagement and revenue generation.
Qualifications:
- University degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of progressive experience in direct marketing or fundraising, ideally within a non-profit, or sales organization.
- Proven ability to design, execute, and evaluate direct marketing campaigns that meet or exceed revenue and donor targets.
- Strong knowledge of data segmentation, analytics, and performance reporting to inform strategy and decision-making.
- Passionate advocate and visible champion of UJA’s mission, values, and goals, inspiring others through action and unwavering commitment to advancing our shared purpose.
- Experience with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and digital marketing tools.
- Solid understanding of fundraising and marketing best practices, including compliance with CASL.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with strong analytical capability and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of or connection to the Toronto Jewish community is considered a strong asset, along with a passion for Jewish communal life and values.
* This is a full-time permanent position. Union Level 6. As UJA currently operates on a hybrid basis. Please note that UJA’s offices are closed on all Jewish holy days (yom tov) and the Jewish Sabbath (Shabbat).
