About the Opportunity

The Human Resources team is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented HR Coordinator to administer and support on full range of HR programs and initiatives. In this role you will work closely with the HR team to deliver impactful programs and support the continued evolution of UJA’s culture. You will be responsible for providing daily administrative and project support in orientation/onboarding, data management, HRIS maintenance and more.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the full employee life cycle ensuring a positive employee experience and alignment with UJA’s mission and values
  • Provide day-to-day HR operational support including maintaining employee data in HRIS, responding to employee inquires, and engaging in our programs and processes
  • Create and send out offer letters for new hires
  • Coordinate onboarding process for new hires through sending out paperwork, setting up employee profiles in BambooHR, etc.
  • Assign compliance training to new hires and ensure completion within prescribed timelines
  • Maintain confidential employee files, process changes and ensure HRIS is accurate and up to date
  • Support recruitment activities through posting roles, screening applicants and scheduling interviews
  • As a culture ambassador support and engage with internal culture/social events
  • Perform other HR duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree in Human Resources, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years’ relevant work experience
  • Passionate advocate and visible champion of UJA’s mission, values, and goals, inspiring others through action and unwavering commitment to advancing our shared purpose
  • CHRP in progress is an asset
  • Working knowledge of the Ontario Employment Standards Act and other relevant legislation
  • Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset
  • Experience with BambooHR and/or other HRIS
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to quickly build rapport with colleagues
  • A self-starter with excellent organizational, prioritizing and time-management skills
  • Detail-oriented with a strong sense for accuracy
  • Enthusiasm, creativity, innovation and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to maintain a high degree of discretion and confidentiality of all HR information

This is a full-time permanent position. As UJA currently operates on a hybrid basis. Please note that UJA’s offices are closed on all Jewish holy days (yom tov) and the Jewish Sabbath (Shabbat).
