About the Opportunity

The Director, Proposals & Stewardship will play a critical cross-functional role between the Jewish Foundation of Greater Toronto and UJA’s Community Capacity Building team, as well as other program delivery teams across the organization. The Director is responsible for designing and delivering an innovative plan, including strategies and solutions to deepen donor engagement and experience.

This will include donor communication and recognition, stewardship strategy and execution, data analysis and reporting, operational system and support, funding opportunities, impact reports, and stewardship strategies that inspire and engage donors and fundholders. By bridging programmatic priorities with donor interests, the Director will help ensure transformational philanthropic investments in the Toronto Jewish community, in Israel, and globally.

Reporting to the SVP, Strategy, Operations & Finance of the Jewish Foundation, this is an exciting opportunity for a creative, strategic thinker who excels in relationship building, storytelling, and collaboration. As a key member of the Foundation team, the Director will be driven to achieve personal and team goals while participating in the overall UJA stewardship goals and objectives.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the integration with the Philanthropic Advisory and Community Capacity Building teams and others to create a comprehensive stewardship strategy with creative solutions and continuous improvement ideas to enhance the donor and stewardship experience.
  • Support the Philanthropic Advisors to provide personalized funding opportunities and stewardship impact report for fundholders and donors
  • Lead the creation of compelling impact reports and stewardship materials that demonstrate the outcomes of community investments, ensuring timely and accurate data.
  • Translate complex program outcomes into clear, inspiring narratives that highlight impact and value for fundholders to foster long-term engagement and encourage future philanthropy.
  • Serve as a thought partner in developing innovative approaches to fundholder engagement across the Jewish Foundation portfolio.
  • Support fundholder cultivation, stewardship, and retention through strategic and personalized touchpoints.
  • Manage cross-functional projects that strengthen collaboration between fundraising and program delivery teams.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to Philanthropic Advisors, offering expertise and strategic guidance to ensure comprehensive and coordinated funding opportunities.
  • Manage with our content and communications team to develop high quality strategic, consistent and meaningful messaging and communication to our fundholders.
  • Deliver value-added information on impact to Philanthropic Advisors that they can regularly share with their portfolios based on donors’ interests, grants, etc.
  • Develop tracking metrics, analyzing donor engagement, granting, interests, and assessing the impact of stewardship efforts to inform future strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Strategy, Operations and Analytics team to ensure that curated impact materials are produced for leading donors as needed.
  • Ensure that all donor-facing materials align with UJA’s values, brand, and communications standards.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant Education or equivalent experience
  • Passionate advocate and visible champion of UJA’s mission, values, and goals, inspiring others through action and unwavering commitment to advancing our shared purpose.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to quickly build rapport with colleagues
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across teams and functions
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities in a busy environment
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills; able to translate complex information into clear and compelling messages.
  • Proactive with excellent organizational, prioritizing and time-management skills
  • A self-starter able to leverage his/her knowledge, skills and experience to manage complex change from start to finish
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment
  • An ability to think strategically and critically
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making and analytical capabilities with excellent attention to detail
  • Proven track record of creativity, problem-solving, and strategic thinking in professional settings.
  • Maintain a high degree of discretion and confidentiality
  • Experience in design and/ or branding and marketing

* This is a full-time permanent position. At UJA we support a flexible work schedule and all of our employees engage in hybrid work.
