About the Opportunity
We are seeking a creative, strategic, and mission-driven professional to join our Donor Impact and Stewardship Team. The Associate Director, Donor Impact Communications will play an essential role on the Philanthropic Leadership Gifts’ team and be heavily collaborative with colleagues in the Integrated development department, to execute and bring to life the high-net-worth stewardship strategy aligned with the strategy set by the Senior Director, Donor impact & Stewardship.
This role is ideal for a candidate passionate about UJA’s mission with a focus on amplifying UJA’s impact through multiple mediums including compelling narrative, written impact reports, dynamic storytelling, innovative social media engagement and other creative vehicles that resonate with the PLG donor base.
The Associate Director, Donor Impact Communications will be responsible for crafting and disseminating communication materials that showcase the tangible impact of donor contributions. Working at the intersection of stewardship, content creation, and digital communications, this role will elevate our donors’ knowledge of UJA’s impact and contribute to build a culture of gratitude and transparency.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Communications & Content Development
- Work collaboratively with UJA departments and program agencies, beneficiaries, and community members to gather rich, authentic content that can be utilized as stewardship tools across the PLG donor space.
- Responsible for the creation of creative and dynamic content in a variety of formats including donor impact reports, donor updates, impact videos, interviews, donor manager materials, newsletters, and more.
- Serve as the main point of contact for collecting qualitative insights and narratives from UJA departments and partner organizations.
- Develop clear processes and tools to help agency partners share stories efficiently with the digital marketing team to integrate with current social media strategy (e.g., intake forms, interview templates, story guidelines).
- Research, write, and produce compelling donor-centered stories highlighting the real-world outcomes of UJA’s work, in multiple mediums- to visually communicate impact.
- Act as the PLG stewardship liaison to Marketing and Communications department. Responsible for working closely with the Marketing team to create content in alignment with the strategy and direction of the Digital Strategy/ Marketing Team.
- Develop stakeholder specific message frameworks and meaningful communication materials to support donor journeys and philanthropic campaigns.
- Ensure consistent brand voice, tone, and messaging across all donor impact materials, including reports, proposals, videos, and web content.
- Maintain a robust content calendar and asset library for reuse and adaptation across channels.
- Stay informed on best practices in philanthropic communications, donor behavior trends, and nonprofit marketing to enhance content relevance and resonance.
- Collaborate with the Donor Experience team to elevate impact messaging in all PLG events, materials and programs. Attendance and assistance at PLG event is required.
- 20% of employees time to be designated to create content and manage all communications for the Jewish and Canadian Instagram account in alignment with the Countering Antisemitism department.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Background in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or related field.
- 7-10 years of experience in content creation, digital communications, or donor relations.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with a flair for storytelling.
- Strong understanding of communication trends, tools, and analytics.
- Experience producing content that can be adapted for various audiences and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment, with multiple teams.
- Empathy, cultural sensitivity, and discretion
- Stay up to date with current events and be able to respond in real time to requests for content.
Preferred:
- Experience working in a nonprofit, philanthropic, or Jewish community context.
- Familiarity with donor databases (e.g. Salesforce), email platforms and content management systems.
- Basic photography or video editing skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Premiere, iMovie) are an asset.

This is a full-time permanent position. As UJA currently operates on a hybrid basis. Please note that UJA’s offices are closed on all Jewish holy days (yom tov) and the Jewish Sabbath (Shabbat).
