About the Opportunity

United Jewish Appeal of Greater Toronto’s real estate portfolio has locations throughout the GTA. Working closely with the Specialist, Real Estate Accounting, the Coordinator, Real Estate Accounting will be responsible for supporting the property accounting of UJA’s commercial portfolio. The ideal candidate will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, proficiency in accounting principles, and excellent time management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Financial

  • Assist in full-cycle property accounting, including preparation and processing of journal entries.
  • Perform accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and other financial records monthly.
  • Support monthly and annual financial reporting, including preparing basic financial statements.
  • Collaborate with the finance team on budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Maintain up-to-date and organized financial records in compliance with company policies.
  • Generate invoices and follow up on outstanding receivables.
  • Perform data verification and ensure accurate entry into accounting software.

Data Entry

  • Input and update financial and non-financial data in databases and accounting systems with high accuracy.
  • Generate and maintain reports and spreadsheets for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify discrepancies in data entry and ensure corrections are made promptly.

Administrative

  • Provide administrative support to the finance team, including organizing meetings and preparing documents.
  • Respond to email inquiries and maintain professional communication with vendors and stakeholders.
  • Assist with audit preparation and respond to auditor requests under supervision.
  • Support the Finance Manager with ad hoc tasks as required.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience in accounting or data entry roles.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Yardi, Microix, MIP Abila).
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles and procedures.
  • Familiarity with data management tools is an asset.
