About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Director, Community Campaign, the Manager, Community Campaign Philanthropy is an integral member of the Community Campaign Team, building philanthropic relationships and managing UJA’s internal Donor Outreach Team (telemarketers) and a large portfolio lay volunteers. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing, managing, and ensuring success across the Community Campaigns Donor Outreach Team and large volunteer fundraiser network. They will focus on the strategic management and effective operation of the canvassing structure, ensuring every Volunteer Fundraiser is set up for success in their commitment and dedication to fundraising for the Annual Campaign. Further, they will provide support and provide our lay volunteers with training for the enhancement of immediate and long-term fundraising results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the Donor Outreach team
  • Manage a committee of volunteers focused on the volunteer fundraiser experience
  • Cultivate and manage a large network of Community Campaign Volunteer Fundraisers
  • Develop and implement a volunteer fundraiser plan/journey and events
  • Engage in face-to-face meetings with volunteer fundraisers for list reviews, volunteer fundraiser stewardship and relationship building
  • Identify and develop new volunteer fundraisers to take on fundraising roles
  • Proactively identify new prospects and volunteers; develop and execute cultivation strategies to engage these relationships
  • Routinely engage with the volunteer fundraisers to ensure their needs are being met and they have everything they need to be successful in their fundraising efforts.
  • Work closely with the Senior Director, Community Campaign and other team members to ensure canvassing plans, strategy and focus connects succinctly to the overall strategy of the Community Campaign.

Qualifications:

  • You have at least 3 years of operations experience (or comparable experience).
  • Highly proficient in managing a fundraising database (Salesforce experience an asset)
  • You are hyper organized.
  • You’re a self-starter and are driven by results.
  • You understand how to make your team (volunteer fundraisers) feel valued because you’re sensitive to their needs and their experience to ensure you get the most out of them.
  • You establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside stakeholders.
  • You have excellent writing and speaking skills and use them to compel individuals to action.
  • You are comfortable spending a lot of time in the weeds. You understand the importance for organization and know volunteers expect you to be prepared, detail-oriented and to follow through on promises.
  • You bring people in line with a vision and motivate them to act.
  • You have a strong customer service-oriented approach complemented by excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • You can discuss a broad range of information and articulate it with passion and integrity.
  • You have excellent knowledge of the Toronto Jewish community.
  • You are diplomatic, a great listener and a strategic thinker.
  • You don’t require micro-managing and are able to make decisions independently.

*This is a full-time permanent position. Union Level 5. At UJA we support a flexible work schedule, and all of our employees engage in hybrid work.
