About the Opportunity
Situated within UJA’s Annual Campaign Team, UJA’s Next Gen group engages donors under the age of 45 to help build the future of philanthropists, volunteers and leaders for our community.
Reporting to the Vice President, Philanthropy & Deputy Campaign Director, the Director, Next Gen is an integral member of the Annual Campaign Team, building philanthropic relationships and managing a portfolio of donors, prospects, and volunteers who are 45 and under.
The Director, Next Gen will be leading a team that is responsible for generating fundraising revenue, cultivating new donors and stewardship, and will focus on the strategic management and effective operation of Annual Campaign fundraising divisions for the enhancement of immediate and long-term fundraising results.
Key Responsibilities:
- In partnership with VP Philanthropy & Deputy Campaign Director develop the long-term strategy to build a strong pipeline of next generation donors, volunteers leadership to help increase engagement and dollars raised from donors that are 45 years old and under.
- Identify, cultivate and manage a portfolio of donors 45 years old and under
- Develop and implement a stewardship plan for donors 45 years old and under to achieve fundraising targets and to engage in face-to-face (or virtual) meetings with prospects and donors
- Set out and deliver against all strategic goals, fundraising and engagement targets for next generation philanthropy.
- Work in partnership with the LEAD team to identify and develop new volunteer leaders to take on fundraising roles.
- Work alongside the prospecting team to proactively identify potential new donors; develop and execute cultivation strategies to engage these relationships
- Create and implement overall fundraising strategies and events to work toward meeting your targets
- Manage a team 2 employees, a group of lay volunteers and a committee
- Develop an engagement plan for Young Adult Major Gifts (YAD MG) donors and Ben Gurion Society (BGS) donors
- In coordination with the events team manage, plan, and oversee multiple events to engage and fundraise
- Recruit, motivate, develop and retain talent to deliver impactful results; champion a flexible, agile and inclusive work environment, prioritizing health and well-being of team
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree, or equivalent experience
- 7+ years' relevant work experience
- Previous experience managing and developing talent; passionate about helping people learn and grow
- Experience in fundraising recommended
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to quickly build rapport with colleagues, stakeholders, donors, lay leadership and community members
- Experience overseeing lay volunteers and committees considered an asset
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities in a busy environment
- Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and associated functions
- Willingness and ability to learn additional applications and platforms as needed
- Knowledge of Salesforce an asset
- Proactive with excellent organizational, prioritizing and time-management skills
- A self-starter able to leverage his/her knowledge, skills and experience to manage complex change from start to finish
- Ability to manage complex projects and budgets, working collaboratively with staff as well as with multiple stakeholders to deliver results
- An ability to think strategically and critically, developing strategic plans that achieve organizational objectives
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making and analytical capabilities with excellent attention to detail
- Enthusiasm, creativity, innovation and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Maintain a high degree of discretion and confidentiality
- Familiarity with non-profits, the Toronto Jewish community and/or experience in Jewish Communal Service considered an asset
This is a full-time permanent position. At UJA we support a flexible work schedule and all of our employees engage in hybrid work.
