About Tribe 12

Tribe 12 connects people in their 20s and 30s to Jewish life and community in Philadelphia today so they will choose to stay connected tomorrow.

For more than fifteen years, Tribe 12 has redefined what Jewish engagement can look like by thinking expansively about how to craft community and inspire connection. Through social events, affinity groups, mentorship, learning cohorts, leadership opportunities, matchmaking, and more, we help young Jewish adults build authentic relationships, meaningful community, and lasting connections to Jewish life.

Over the past six years, Tribe 12 has nearly doubled its budget and expanded its impact, becoming one of Philadelphia's leading Jewish engagement organizations.

We believe great organizations are built by great teams. Our next Executive Director will join a dedicated and mission-driven staff, an engaged Board, and a community excited about the future.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to lead an innovative and dynamic organization into its next chapter.

Working closely with the Board and staff, the Executive Director will provide strategic leadership while strengthening the organization's culture, operations, partnerships, and long-term sustainability. The next Executive Director will help Tribe 12 continue asking important questions about where it can have the greatest impact and how it can best serve Jewish adults in their 20s and 30s.

We're looking for a leader who can balance vision with execution, someone who enjoys building healthy teams, developing people, creating organizational clarity, and earning the trust of staff, board members, funders, and community partners.

This role is well-suited for individuals with executive director experience and a desire to have an impact in Philadelphia’s Jewish community or candidates ready to step into their first executive director position after serving in senior leadership in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.

  • Building a strong organizational culture rooted in trust, accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.

  • Partnering closely with the Board of Directors to strengthen governance and advance strategic priorities.

  • Overseeing organizational finances, budgeting, and long-term sustainability in partnership with the Treasurer and Finance Committee.

  • Serving as a public ambassador for Tribe 12 throughout Greater Philadelphia and beyond.

  • Partnering with the Senior Director for Strategy and Development to cultivate major donors and advance fundraising efforts.

  • Ensuring the success of fundraising events including the annual Hanukkah Fundraiser and the Jewish Philly Under 40 Awards.

  • Building strong relationships with funders, community organizations, volunteers, and stakeholders.

  • Assessing programs, operations, and organizational systems to ensure that they remain aligned with Tribe 12's mission and values.

Who You Are

Successful candidates will bring many of the following:

  • Significant leadership experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
