Overview
Reporting directly to the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and working closely with the Director of Clinical Education, the Director of Clinic Operations oversees the administrative and clinical support personnel of the College’s dental teaching facility, Touro Dental Health, a state-of-the-art, full-service dental clinic serving Hudson Valley. The Director of Clinic Operations is responsible for the supervision and direction of clinical support staff, the development and implementation of clinic policies and procedures, and the coordination of operational and clinical support activities. The position also supports staff development, workflow improvement, and operational reporting to promote an efficient clinical environment and a positive patient care experience for patients, students, faculty, and staff.
Responsibilities
- Provide training, mentoring and evaluation of front-line administrative and clinical support staff to accomplish goals, establish clear work standards and expectations.
- Participate in the development and implementation of processes for workflow, logistics and customer service to improve clinic operations and ensure a positive and seamless patient care delivery system.
- Work directly with the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and the Assistant Vice President of Finance and Operations to ensure clinical personnel are trained, held accountable, and managed in the policies and procedures needed in the front-end process of the revenue cycle.
- Support the leadership team with operational processes related to patient care, compliance/regulations, and updates to patient policies and consent forms.
- Manage in tandem with the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and the Director of Clinical Education the schedules of administrative and clinical staff, faculty and students.
- Prepare regular KPI reports for leadership, including visits, new patients, recalls, dismissed patients, and others as requested.
- Participate as a member of the quality assurance committee.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree or higher required.
- A minimum of 3+ years in senior level management of a small to mid-size medical practice, preferably in Dental.
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA and compliance issues in a clinical setting.
- Call center experience preferred.
- Strong systems/technology-based orientation (e.g. Outlook, excel, electronic health records, etc.).
- Proven track record developing operational processes and customer service initiatives.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- A knowledge of dentistry and operations of a patient centered dental facility a plus.
- Strong understanding of insurance plans, medical billing and revenue cycle analysis.
- Spanish speaking a plus.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Superb interpersonal and communication.
- Accurate data entry skills.
- Patient Care Operations experience.
- Exceptional customer service skills and professionalism in communications and demeanor.
- Effective organizational and planning, including attention to detail and follow through.
- Ability to take direction, assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands to help the dental students and faculty daily.
- Adherence to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPAA laws and guidelines with regard to patient records.
