Overview

Under the direction of the Laboratory and Simulation Manager, the Instructor of Nursing/Simulation Educator will provide education, clinical, and technical expertise in skills and simulation-based activities in the nursing labs. The Educator will assist with curriculum changes in the instructional labs, assist with proposals for grants, and assist in the orientation of adjunct faculty to equipment used during instructional labs, and participate in overall laboratory operations.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a monthly meeting, even if scheduled on a different day that the usually scheduled work day
  • Set up and teach simulation and skills lab sessions
  • Ensure that simulation experiences meet course and program outcomes
  • Collaborate with nursing faculty and other interprofessional faculty to develop simulation scenarios to promote student learning, clinical judgment, under the direction of the Laboratory and Simulation Manager and the Director of Nursing
  • Participate in the collection of evaluative data on learning outcomes related to the skills lab and simulations
  • Conduct simulation session as an alternative to clinical rotations, pursuant to New York laws and regulations
  • Participates in comprehensive simulation program implementation across the nursing curriculum
  • Participates in the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of new courses, scenarios, simulation tools, research studies, and other educational initiatives to measure learning outcomes using simulation and clinical education best practices
  • Coordinates with the course coordinators to schedule students for supplemental simulation activities
  • Coordinates with the course coordinator to schedule live GU/GYN demonstrations/instructions with standardized patients
  • Conducts inventory of supplies and equipment
  • Keep abreast of new equipment used in the field of nursing and obtain information on said equipment for consideration of purchasing
  • Maintains safe working function of equipment and environment
  • Provides technical support for high- and mid-fidelity simulators and low-fidelity equipment/part task trainers
  • Other duties and instructional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Master of Science in Nursing required.
  • Must be willing to be sent for training in healthcare simulation, which may include off-site training.
  • New York State RN license, or eligibility.
  • Experience as a clinical instructor in nursing required.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in clinical practice, preferably in medical-surgical nursing, telemetry, emergency nursing, critical care.
  • Familiarity with High Fidelity Computer system, AEHR and video recording for simulation.
  • Knowledge of office software computer for scheduling, ordering, inventory, medication labels, and correspondence.

Maximum Salary

USD $90,000.00/Yr.

Minimum Salary

USD $72,000.00/Yr.
