Overview
The Student Services Specialist serves as a primary point of contact for prospective, current, and former students, providing comprehensive support across Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, and Bursar functions. This role is critical in ensuring a seamless, student-centered experience from initial inquiry through graduation. In addition to core service responsibilities, the Student Services Specialist supports operational efficiency by assisting with workflow coordination and helping to ensure consistency in service delivery across Student Services.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary resource for prospective, current, and former students across all areas of Student Services
- Respond promptly, accurately, and professionally to inquiries via phone, email, and in-person interactions
- Provide clear guidance and resolution to complex student issues, escalating when appropriate
- Safeguard the privacy and confidentiality of student education records in compliance with applicable regulations
- Assist in coordinating daily operations and workflow within the Student Services team
- Provide guidance and informal mentorship to Student Services Associates and junior staff
- Support training efforts and contribute to process improvements to enhance service delivery
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments to ensure alignment and efficiency
- Issue standard and customized correspondence to applicants, including admissions decisions
- Support recruitment initiatives, including participation in internal and external events
- Assist with special projects, reporting, and office operations as needed
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Associate's degree preferred
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in student services, higher education administration, or a related customer service environment.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, & Outlook) and ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Team-oriented with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
Travel
- Travel to other Touro campuses as needed.
- Participation in external recruitment events, such as college fairs.
