Overview

Touro College of Dental Medicine invites applications for the role of full-time Oral and Maxillofacial Pathologist for its New Mexico campus. This faculty position is a unique opportunity for an aspiring or experienced clinician-educator to engage in both didactic and clinical teaching at predoctoral and postdoctoral levels. The selected candidate will support Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology programming through curriculum development, teaching, clinical care, research, and service. This position will also serve as faculty in the patient intake clinic as assistant director, assisting students with their assigned patients. This is a 5-day per week position with a 20%-time allotment for the pursuit of hospital surgical pathology practice, and/or research and/or eligibility to participate in clinical faculty practice.

Responsibilities

  • Teach predoctoral dental students in areas such as general, systems, and oral and maxillofacial pathology, oral histology, and related subjects
    • Including revisions, updates, and additions to flipped classroom video teaching modules
  • Provide clinical care and oversee clinical teaching in oral and maxillofacial pathology and patient intake
  • Develop innovative educational programs, including an Advanced Clinical Education (ACE) program in oral and maxillofacial pathology for predoctoral students
  • Mentor students and contribute to General Practice Residency, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency, and other post-graduate training educational initiatives
  • Participate in research and scholarly activities aligned with professional interests
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as outlined by the Director of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology
  • Other related duties as necessary

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • DDS/DMD degree or equivalent required.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology through the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.
  • New Mexico State Dental License.
  • New York State Dental License if needed.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Prior teaching experience in a professional higher education setting.
  • Background in private practice.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Proven ability to develop and manage successful educational and clinical programs.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and capacity to become skilled in Touro University teaching platforms (e.g., Canvas, TurningPoint, Zoom, axiUm).

Certifications/Licensures

  • Board certification or eligibility in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology through the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.
