Overview

The position focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of patient with oral and maxillofacial pain and the development of an Oral Facial Pain Center. The Orofacial Pain discipline assesses, diagnoses and treats patients with complex, chronic pain in the mouth, jaws and face.

Responsibilities

  • The development of an Oral Facial Pain Center within the Touro College of Dental Medicine utilizing the resources of the dental school, New York Medical College and Westchester Medical Center as well as others.
  • Clinical and didactic teaching at the pre- and post-DDS level, research activity, patient care at the Oral Facial Pain Center, and service.
  • The Director will provide and oversee the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients with complex, chronic pain in the mouth, jaws and face.
  • This represents a unique and challenging opportunity to become a leading facilitator in higher education in Orofacial Pain and interprofessional pain education, and to join a multidisciplinary team of pain clinicians in the delivery of care for patients suffering from chronic orofacial pain and comorbid pain conditions.
  • In addition, there is the exciting opportunity to collaborate in ongoing pain research in key areas ranging from pain neurobiology to translational pain medicine.
  • Miscellaneous tasks and duties as may be assigned by TCDM leadership.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD), or equivalent degree required.
  • At least 5 years experience in the treatment and management of patients with oral facial pain required; experience in the clinical management of chronic orofacial pain conditions and dental sleep medicine preferred.

Certifications/Licensures

  • Dental License Registration required.
  • NPI Number required.
  • CPR Certification required.
  • NYS license required.
  • Certificate or higher level of training in Orofacial Pain, and who are board-eligible or a Diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain required.
  • DEA Number Preferred

  • Knowledge of current imaging techniques and digital applications.
  • General administrative duties.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.

    Maximum Salary

    USD $185,436.00/Yr.

    Minimum Salary

    USD $148,348.00/Yr.
