Overview
We're looking for an individual who is passionate about accessibility and has a willingness to learn and grow in this area. You're organized and appreciate the digital space and can help maintain our various website with day-to-day updates, accessibility checks and edits, pdf management, and event review and approvals. More than experience, we're looking for someone who is a quick study, a good communicator, and eager to learn. We are looking for someone that can work independently and with a team.
Responsibilities
You will work hand in hand with the web content manager, keeping various sites up to date. This includes:
- Daily small updates to school sites, as needed
- Review and approval of event postings
You will be responsible for the continued accessibility of our websites and working with the various individuals on the web team, and in schools, as needed to make sure that our sites continue to remain in compliance and improve accessibility. This includes:
- Keep up to date on WCAG requirements
- Familiarity with / use of screen reader tools
- Use of web accessibility evaluation tools, including WAVE, Siteimprove
- Monitor Touro's public-facing websites utilizing web monitoring software and analytics to ensure compliance with accessibility standards
- Fixing as able, and coordinating within the web department to schedule and track more hefty accessibility fixes
- Review & correct PDFs to make sure they are accessible
- Working with schools and departments to make sure all links and headers conform to accessibility standards
- Caption videos and provide video transcriptions for websites, as needed, or work with departments to ensure their videos meet requirements
- Quality assurance of the site, including broken link and misspelling review
- Develop content to help educate others on web accessibility requirements
- Research relevant trends and best practices in web accessibility and standards
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Bachelor of Arts required.
- 2 years of related experience or a bachelor's degree in digital accessibility, communications or a related field preferred
- Basic HTML knowledge a plus
