Overview

The Touro University Graduate School of Social Work is seeking candidates for a full-time (10-month appointment), on-site, Associate Professor in Social Work. The successful candidate must have demonstrated capability to teach in multiple modalities including face-to-face, synchronous, and asynchronous online formats. Successful candidates will exhibit a commitment to excellence in teaching, mentoring, instructional design, and engaged scholarship. Experience should include curriculum development, education best practices, instruction/teaching in social work, student advising, ability to engage students both in and out of the classroom. Ideal candidates will have a defined area of research and scholarship and a social work practice area of expertise. Demonstrated experience with CSWE Accreditation Standards is a plus. A typical workday will entail teaching, advising, and meetings. Faculty carry a 21-credit workload per academic year, with responsibilities distributed across teaching, scholarship, and service. Faculty participate in MSW program activities as needed (orientation, community days, committee meetings, and curriculum development), and will also contribute on departmental and university-wide committees.

The school provides students with a social work education that offers a theoretical and evidence-based foundation in generalist social work, as well as advanced knowledge and skills for effective clinical social work. This education prepares graduates for leadership roles in clinical social work practice with varied populations in the contemporary service delivery environment.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Teaching in-person (Manhattan, Brooklyn) and asynchronous/synchronous courses according to workload assignments
  • Service to the Department, University, and Community Research/Scholarship, including publication, social work academic conferences, funded research Academic advising for students in traditional, on-campus and distance education online
  • Participate in standing and ad-hoc committees
  • Participate in program events, such as orientation and graduation
  • Build, strengthen, and support community relations
  • Highly engaged and responsive during stipulated work hours

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Master of Social Work degree and a Doctorate in a related field of study required; a Ph.D. in Social Work or a DSW degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of graduate-level, clinical teaching experience required
  • Evidence of research and scholarly activities
  • Instructional course design experience
  • Student advising experience
  • Experience with clinical simulation technology and artificial intelligence experience a plus

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Experience with Canvas and electronic learning management systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, & Zoom

Certifications/Licensures

  • Social work licensure required

Travel

  • As Needed

Maximum Salary

USD $100,000.00/Yr.

Minimum Salary

USD $80,000.00/Yr.
