Overview

The Student Account Representative is the primary point of contact for student accounts and the student health insurance program at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine. This individual will oversee payment and collection activities of student accounts and manage the student health insurance program. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical, social, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for daily financial matters as they pertain to the student body and ensuring compliance with federal regulations including:
    • Manage student refund process to ensure compliance with US Department of Education regulations
    • Review and clear pending accounts, and contact students by phone and email when necessary, clear accounts for registration
    • Promote and support the enrollment of students in Direct Deposit and Payment Plans
    • Prepare and process bank deposits weekly
    • Post wire payments
    • Calculate refunds owed to students; submits requests for refunds for timely payment
    • Pre-collections activity including sending out final notices and preparing and placing files to internal collections
    • Provide support and resolutions to students via Zoom, phone, or email
    • Monitor and analyze credit and debit balance reports in compliance with US Department of Education regulations
    • Track Payment Plans
    • Prepare routine, special, and ancillary reports as required
  • Work closely with the Office of the Registrar, Financial Aid, and Admissions
    • Reconcile and notify the Financial Aid office of pending adjustments necessary
    • Reconcile and notify the Registrar of pending adjustments necessary
  • Management and oversight of Student Health Insurance Program including:
    • Manage opt out procedures for student health insurance
    • Make necessary billing adjustments to accounts for health insurance premium, while maintaining enrollment records for student health insurance
    • Mediate conversations between claims processor and students
    • Negotiate with broker regarding changes needed and enrollment/coverage problems Reconcile Student Health Insurance invoices and communicate issues with broker
  • Serve as Campus Groups student engagement platform site administrator and the Montana TouroOne Portal liaison
  • Serve as coordinator of the student gym membership program
  • Administers the TouroCOM Montana Marketplace
  • Assists with university activities outside of normal business hours, during peak times within the year
  • Support Help Desk inquiries
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Business, Economics or Accounting background is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong organizational skills. Must be able to multi-task and prioritize work.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to adjust and interact with all levels of personnel.
  • Previous knowledge of Banner is preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, & Outlook
