About the Millstone Scholars ProgramMillstone Scholars is a National Honors program for 7th & 8th graders attending public and secular independent schools in communities across the US. We are now entering our 4th year with 30 cohorts around the U.S. and growing. Each week over the course of a full academic year, students participate in seminar style classes (in-person) with fellow young Jews eager to discover their own Jewish history and heritage in an intellectually serious way. As they explore Jewish texts, the heroic story of modern Israel, and the influence of Jewish Ideas on America, a strengthened Jewish identity emerges.About the roleWe are currently seeking working professionals and graduate students with a passion for Jewish education to facilitate the Millstone program in local cities across the country. This is a part-time, in-person position based in the city of the educator’s cohort(s). Cohorts are typically 10-12 students and meet once per week for 75 minutes over the course of the 8-month academic year.The Millstone curriculum is built around three core trimesters:Fall: The Foundations of Jewish ThoughtWinter: The Founding of Modern IsraelSpring: The Jewish Experience in AmericaResponsibilities- Prepare lessons and activities based on curriculum- Facilitate engaging classroom discussions that promote debate and analysis of historical events- Record attendance and submit short seminar reflections- Collaborate with Millstone faculty and educator team- Maintain ongoing communication with parents and the Millstone scholars team- Submit evaluations and share requested feedback with program administratorsExperience and Preferred Qualifications- Advanced degree preferred, not required; experience with middle school students preferred- Effective classroom management; excellent verbal and written communication- Ability to engage and inspire students and families; foster respectful dialogue and critical thinking- Strong knowledge of Jewish and Zionist values, texts, and philosophy; alignment with Tikvah’s missionPeriod of Employment: October 2025 – May 2026Compensation: Salary 10–12k commensurate with experience and skill.Apply: Click here to access our application form.
