What you’ll be responsible for:

As the Director of the Jewish United Fund’s Women’s Philanthropy (WP) team, you will oversee the team’s administration and management, providing professional leadership and strategic direction to WP’s Boards and Councils, fundraising, educational programming, outreach, leadership development, and volunteer activities. You will ensure effective donor engagement and serve as the primary ambassador for WP in the Chicagoland Jewish community.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Oversee WP’s day-to-day operations and collaboration within the larger Campaign department
  • Supervise WP team including direct supervision of 2 – 4 employees
  • Work in partnership with volunteer leadership to plan, coordinate, and implement Board/Council meetings, committee meetings, programs, and events designed to increase number of participants at programs and donors to the JUF Annual Campaign
  • Directly manage the day-to-day operations of the WP Boards and Councils
  • Work in partnership with Campaign Department leadership to identify, engage, educate, solicit, and steward current and potential donors and to maximize all development opportunities through both WP events and individualized approaches
  • Develop and maintain a portfolio of donors, including engagement, cultivation, and solicitation of their gifts
  • Collaborate with colleagues on the Marketing/Communications and Events teams to effectively market and execute campaign events and programs
  • Work with colleagues across the organization to provide Boards/Councils with high‑quality educational speakers and meaningful engagement opportunities
  • Act as an ambassador for WP and women in the Chicago community
  • Create and maintain department budget and write annual budget narrative
  • Assume other responsibilities in the Campaign department as specified by the Associate Vice President, Women’s Philanthropy, and support JUF Campaign with mandatory campaign-related activities on an ongoing basis

            What you need to succeed:

            • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
            • 6+ years related work experience in program or event planning, strategic development, fundraising, and/or outreach, including at least 3 years of experience in a Federation, fundraising institution, or related Jewish communal service institution
            • Minimum 4 years’ experience working with donors
            • Knowledge of Jewish community, culture, heritage, traditions and Jewish Communal Services
            • Management experience with at least one direct report
            • Proven ability to plan, implement, and measure strategies and programs
            • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and oral communication skills with spectacular relationship building/maintaining skills
            • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with multiple stakeholders (colleagues, volunteers, donors, community organizations)
            • Ability to prioritize tasks, balance multiple assignments, and meet deadlines
            • High level of energy and flexibility with a desire and willingness to learn and grow
            • Availability for evening and/or weekend events/meetings
            • Proficient in all Microsoft Office Suite of Products
            • Discretion and independent judgement in performing all aspects of the position

            Our Schedule:

            We have a hybrid work policy to allow staff the flexibility to work from home / remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Tuesdays-Thursdays, the standard work location is 30 South Wells Street in Chicago, and staff are expected to work in person. We have a 36.5 hour work week, not a 40 hour work week. Our work hours are 8:30am-5pm Monday-Thursday and 8:30am-4pm Friday with a daily 1 hour lunch break.
