What you’ll be responsible for:
EZRA’s Multi Service Center is a community-based service center that provides emergency services to Chicago’s Edgewater, Uptown and Lakeview communities. We are seeking a compassionate Case Manager to support clients in crisis by providing financial assistance, financial literacy programming, benefits advocacy, and help navigating available resources. This role involves direct client services, program facilitation, and cross-department collaboration to promote long-term stability and self-sufficiency.
What you’ll be doing:
- Client Services
- Conduct screenings, intakes, and assessments for clients in need of emergency services and financial assistance.
- Provide crisis intervention and advocacy to clients navigating housing instability, public benefits, and other social service systems.
- Conduct benefits assessments and link clients with public benefits and resources they are eligible for.
- Assist clients with personal budgeting based on their needs.
- Provide case collaboration and coordination across departments.
- Programming
- Contribute to the development and facilitation of client-centered programming, including monthly budgeting workshops and other departmental programming for clients.
- In collaboration with team members, conduct workshops based on client need.
- Support agency wide resource distribution events through participation and outreach.
- Administrative Duties
- Enter case notes accurately and on a timely basis.
- Track attendance for relevant programming.
- Attend and actively participate in internal and external meetings.
- Participate in group programs and holiday celebrations.
- Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards in all client interactions.
What you need to succeed:
- Associate’s degree
- 3-5 years’ experience in the social service field
- Desire to work for an agency with an urban Jewish social agenda
- Experience working with others on personal budgeting and financial stability is preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Outlook, Excel) and capable of learning other systems as needed
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in data entry and reporting
- Strong attention to detail and effective time management skills
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
- Sensitivity in working with low-income populations including seniors, people with mental illness, people with disabilities, people living with chronic illness, parents and children, and people who are homeless
