The Jewish Grad Organization (JGO) is a dynamic organization dedicated to enriching the experience of Jewish graduate students on over 150+ campuses. We provide support through Jewish programming, funding initiatives, and access to speakers across various professions and specialties.

Position Summary

JGO is seeking a strategic and driven Director of Legal Community Engagement and Partnerships to strengthen and expand our relationships with attorneys and law firms in the New York area. This hybrid role—available as either full-time or part-time—offers the opportunity to significantly grow financial support for our mission of empowering Jewish graduate students. The role blends remote flexibility with in-person relationship-building across the New York metropolitan area. The ideal candidate has a strong track record in fundraising, business development, or client relations, particularly with legal professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic plan to engage attorneys and law firms as active partners and supporters of JGO.
  • Build and maintain personal relationships with current and prospective donors in the legal field, fostering deep connections and increased giving.
  • Identify and solicit new attorney donors and legal firms to expand JGO’s financial base.
  • Create compelling proposals and materials that highlight JGO’s mission and the value of supporting Jewish graduate students.
  • Negotiate donation commitments and partnership opportunities that align with JGO’s goals and the interests of the legal community.
  • Conduct regular in-person meetings and outreach across the New York area.
  • Keep detailed records in our CRM (Salesforce or equivalent), documenting contacts, activities, and outcomes.
  • Share updates and stories of impact with donors to inspire continued and increased support.
  • Identify potential lay leaders in the legal field who can champion JGO’s efforts.
  • Plan and lead networking events and engagement opportunities for attorneys.
  • Track and analyze metrics to evaluate the success of outreach strategies.
  • Stay informed about trends in fundraising and engagement within the legal sector.

Qualifications

  • A deep passion for JGO’s mission and supporting Jewish graduate students.
  • 5+ years of experience in fundraising, business development, or client relations, with proven success meeting goals.
  • Experience working with attorneys or legal organizations in the New York area is strongly preferred.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to form authentic, high-level relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including proposal and presentation skills.
  • Highly self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing independent work.
  • Experience using CRM tools (Salesforce preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree a plus.
  • Must be based in or able to travel regularly within the New York metropolitan area.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience and commitment (full-time 80k-110k, or part-time).
