This position is critical for establishing a robust strategy for measuring and evaluating the impact of the Foundation's community investments. The Director will collaborate closely with grantees and community partners to ensure the effectiveness of funded initiatives and share key findings with Foundation staff, trustees, and other stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in impact assessment, grant evaluation, and data analytics, with a strong foundation in both quantitative and qualitative methodologies. They will be responsible for shaping and managing the Foundation’s measurement and evaluation processes, driving continuous improvement , and fostering transparent communication of results. The Director will report directly to the Chief Program Officer (CPO). Core Responsibilities
Measurement, Evaluation, and Reporting Strategy • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive measurement and evaluation strategy that aligns with the Foundation's mission and vision. • Serve as the organizational subject matter expert for data management, measurement, and evaluation. • Create processes for collecting, managing, and analyzing data to assess the impact of the Foundation’s philanthropic investments. • Synthesize findings into actionable insights and prepare regular reports for the Foundation’s staff, trustees, and external stakeholders. • Collaborate with the CPO and grantmaking team to develop metrics that inform strategic decisions and ensure accountability. • Share out evaluation results with the Foundation's trustees, grantee partners, and the broader Cincinnati Jewish community, providing clear and insightful reports on impact and outcomes.
Grantmaking and Grantee Support • Partner with grantees and community organizations to design proposals that include measurable outcomes and clear evaluation plans. • Provide technical assistance and training to grantees on data collection, impact measurement, and reporting tools. • Manage ongoing relationships with grantees, ensuring alignment on expectations, metrics, and reporting timelines. Collaboration with Community Partners • Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, helping them align their efforts with the Foundation’s impact objectives. • Serve as a representative of the Foundation at relevant convenings, conferences, and community meetings. Internal Systems and Processes • Oversee the Foundation’s grant management software and data systems (Giving Data), ensuring they support efficient monitoring, evaluation, and reporting. • Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes for grantmaking and evaluation.
Professional Development and Growth • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay updated on the latest trends in evaluation methodology, impact assessment, and philanthropic strategies. • Participate in relevant conferences and training opportunities that enhance the Foundation’s impact work.
Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred. • At least 8 years of experience in grantmaking, evaluation, non-profit work, or community service, with a strong understanding of impact assessment in a foundation setting. • Proven expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methods, and a track record of turning data into actionable insights. • Strong project management skills with a focus on detail-oriented execution and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders. • Familiarity with Jewish communal philanthropy and an appreciation for Jewish culture and community. • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience presenting complex data to various audiences, including trustees and community partners. • Proficiency in using MS Office Suite and grant management software (e.g., GivingData).
