Associate Vice President, Public Affairs

About Us
The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh is the central fundraising and community planning organization for the Pittsburgh Jewish community. We provide funding to local and overseas core partners, as well as independent programs that provide education, security, and health and human welfare services.

At the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh, we believe in the power of connection, advocacy, and understanding to create a stronger, more unified community. Through the work of our Community Relations Council (CRC), we foster relationships across faiths, backgrounds, and communities; advocate for policies that support the Jewish community and Israel; and respond to incidents of antisemitism with compassion, strength, and strategic action.

Our mission is simple yet powerful: to strengthen Jewish life and enhance the lives of all in Greater Pittsburgh, Israel, and around the world.

The Opportunity
We’re seeking a thoughtful and dynamic leader to serve as Associate Vice President, Public Affairs, the senior professional responsible for guiding the CRC’s vision and strategy. This role offers the opportunity to represent the Jewish community in key civic spaces, strengthen coalitions with diverse partners, and shape how our community engages with issues that matter.

You’ll work at the intersection of advocacy, relationship-building, and education, leading a talented team, advising senior leadership, and serving as one of the Federation’s key public voices on Jewish affairs and antisemitism.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the strategy and operations of the Community Relations Council, developing and implementing an annual plan that advances the Federation’s community relations, public affairs, and advocacy goals.

  • Foster relationships with elected officials, civic leaders, and organizations across diverse faiths, ethnicities, and communities to strengthen understanding and build coalitions for shared priorities.

  • Advocate for public policy that advances Jewish communal interests, combats antisemitism, and supports social justice and Israel.

  • Serve as a spokesperson and educator, providing insight, context, and leadership on issues affecting the Jewish community locally and globally.

  • Partner with the Director of Community Security and other leaders to respond strategically to antisemitic incidents and strengthen community resilience.

  • Engage and develop volunteer leadership, ensuring the CRC reflects the diversity and perspectives of the broader Jewish community.

  • Collaborate with national and statewide Jewish organizations, such as the Jewish Federations of North America and the Pennsylvania Jewish Coalition, to align advocacy and education efforts.

  • Oversee key initiatives and partnerships, including the Greater Pittsburgh Jewish Council, the 412 Black Jewish Collaborative, and relationships with Hillel JUC and Vibrant Pittsburgh.

  • Manage staff, budgets, and grants that sustain the CRC’s programs, partnerships, and community impact.
