Position Summary:
The Jewish Community Relations Associate will serve as a key liaison between the Jewish Federation of Greater Nashville and the broader community, including civic, interfaith, and governmental partners. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is responsible for advancing the Federation’s mission through strategic relationship-building, advocacy, education, and community engagement. The ideal candidate is passionate about Jewish values, combatting and responding to antisemitism, and coalition-building, and thrives in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Community Engagement & Outreach
- Build and maintain relationships with local leaders, faith-based organizations, and civic institutions.
- Represent the Federation at community events, interfaith gatherings, and public forums.
- Organize and facilitate programs that promote Jewish values, pluralism, and mutual understanding, including the annual JCRC seder.
- Staff and support the JCRC committee.
Advocacy & Public Affairs
- Monitor and respond to local, state, and national issues affecting the Jewish community.
- Coordinate advocacy efforts on issues such as antisemitism, Israel, religious freedom, and Jewish values.
- Draft policy statements, op-eds, and educational materials in collaboration with the CEO.
Education & Programming
- Develop and implement educational initiatives that foster awareness of Jewish history, culture, and contemporary issues.
- Support Holocaust education and Israel engagement efforts in schools and public institutions.
- Collaborate with internal departments to align programming with strategic goals.
- Staff the annual community Yom Hashoah observance in partnership with Nashville clergy and other partners, ie; The Nashville Holocaust Memorial committee and the Tennessee Holocaust Commission.
Communications & Relationship Management
- Support the CEO as spokesperson and ambassador for the Federation in external communications.
- Collaborate with the marketing department to cultivate partnerships with media outlets and community influencers.
- Maintain a database of key contacts and track engagement metrics.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Jewish Studies, Communications, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Experience in community relations, advocacy, or nonprofit work a plus.
- Strong understanding of Jewish communal life, values, and current issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with elected officials or in government affairs.
- Familiarity with interfaith dialogue and coalition-building.
- Proficiency in social media and digital communications.
- Event planning and public speaking experience.
