With this surge in energy and commitment, we are expanding our development team to deepen donor relationships, scale our efforts, and execute high-impact annual and special-project campaigns.
The Role
The Young Adult Philanthropy Manager plays a pivotal role in building the next generation of Jewish philanthropic leadership in San Diego. This position leads strategy and implementation for engaging Jewish adults ages 25–40 as lifelong donors, leaders, and changemakers.
The Manager will activate professional affinity groups and serve as a primary connector between young adults and Federation’s broader philanthropic ecosystem. This role reports to the Chief Development Officer and collaborates closely with colleagues across development, leadership, and programs.
Key Responsibilities
  • Execute Federation’s young adult philanthropy strategy to cultivate lifelong donors and emerging lay leaders ages 25–40, with a clear focus on activation, implementation, and measurable outcomes.
  • Lead the launch and growth of the Ben Gurion Society (BGS) through professional affinity groups (e.g., young attorneys, real estate professionals), delivering meaningful, values-based experiences that foster peer connection and philanthropic commitment.
  • Build and manage a dynamic engagement pipeline by identifying, tracking, and stewarding high-potential young adults toward increased involvement and giving, including movement into major donor and legacy giving pathways.
  • Plan and implement targeted campaigns, gatherings, and stewardship touchpoints designed to build donor identity, inspire increased giving, and strengthen connections to Federation’s mission.
  • Collaborate with leadership and program staff to align young adult engagement efforts with Federation-wide goals, including coordination with leadership development cohorts, immersive travel, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Deliver clear impact metrics by tracking engagement, conversion to giving, donor retention, and leadership activation, using Salesforce and other tools to ensure accurate reporting and data-driven decision-making.
  • Serve as a visible and trusted presence in the young adult Jewish community, representing Federation at key events and cultivating relationships that reflect our commitment to donor-centered excellence.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in nonprofit, young adult programming, or philanthropy.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with experience working with lay leaders, volunteers, and emerging professionals
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, innovate, and lead complex projects from conception to completion.
  • Familiarity with Jewish communal life and Federation mission is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in donor management software (CRM), data analytics, and Microsoft Office Suite.

This is a full-time position, working onsite in San Diego, CA, with the ability to work from home on most Fridays.
Compensation and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range of $75,00 – $85,000 annually, along with a generous benefits package, retirement plan, and comprehensive paid leave, including vacation, sick leave, and 22 paid holidays per year.
