Job Description:

The primary function of the Development Associate is to support the organization’s strategic use of data to further goals and objectives related to donor, prospect, and leadership development. This position will serve as an internal trainer, providing effective instruction and good customer service so all staff in the organization are empowered to use our donor database to meet their professional responsibilities and the organization’s overall goals.

The ideal candidate will have strong administrative and organizational skills, manage the constituent database with an exceptional eye to detail, be a strong team player, and be passionate to empower JFGN staff in utilization of the database.

This position reports to the Development Director.


Job Responsibilities:

Donor Database:

  • Ensures that the database is accurate and accessible.
  • Produces and maintains pledges in database, including generating pledge cards.
  • Performs research of returned mail and wrong phone numbers, including all processing of NCOA and other tools to keep addresses and phone numbers up to date.
  • Oversees constituent changes/new constituent additions and monitors entry of new accounts.
  • Responsible for global changes and database appending procedures.
  • Works with the Development and Finance teams to ensure database security is maintained and updated as indicated.
  • Works with Campaign Associate and Director of Development to create gift coding and manage lists and mailings for donor recognition.
  • Manages reporting and query structures.
  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and tracking a training program, furthering, and maintaining the use and operations of the database.
  • Responsible for the reporting of statistics and other information on a regularly scheduled basis and as requested by staff and national agencies. This includes daily weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting.

Events:

  • Lead support professional for development events.
  • Responsible for managing the development event timeline, including vendor communications, product procurement, and other related activities.
  • Responsible for working events as lead support to Development Director.

Development:

  • Provides development and Annual Campaign support, as required.
  • Responsible for the formatting, printing, and mailing of all donor acknowledgements.
  • Track donor attendance for development and campaign events, ensuring inclusion in CRM
  • Leads, manages, and implements assigned portfolio of community-level donors
  • Increases community participation and gifts through continuously building relationships with current and prospective community-level donors.
  • Works closely with the Development Director and Marketing and Communications team to ensure all communication, branding, and marketing efforts are aligned with JFGN brand.

Administrative:

  • Answer, and direct, phone calls and review messages as necessary.
  • Receive mail to be sorted and distributed daily.
  • Maintain daily spreadsheets of deposits.
  • Creates and executes volunteer engagement opportunities.
  • Responds to community announcements by way of cards and correspondence and leads the efforts for donor birthday cards, etc.

Requirements:

  • Two or more years of development experience
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Suite
  • Experience and knowledge of donor databases, DonorPerfect preferred.
  • Planning/Organizing – Identifies and resolves problems timely and efficiently; Gathers and analyzes information; Develops solutions.
